EARL WALSH So I Hear From Robert E. Sutton, St. Ambrose College, Daven port, Iowa, comes an in teresting letter. Here are excerpts: "Somehow the summer slipped by and I found no opportunity to visit you and introduce myself as your isin." Family is a sometime me, and I have many bits of in- that are as yet and often un- "Last spring one of my cousins sent me a genealogical chart of the Frisby-Walsh family. I learned from this that your great-grandfather George Frisby married a Catherine Sutton." 'thir researc hobby collec forma Robert says . he was fascinated by this statement in one document: "Many of the family records were destroyed when the family castle was burned by Cromwell's army in 1649." I had always thought my ancestors were peasant farmers in. County Kilkenny, but if we had a castle maybe there is some noble blood in our veins after all!" My father always claimed he didn't know his age since the family bible was burned in Ireland. From the following, I predict that Robert will some day return to McHenry to reside: wfs# ml * >'X , # * •» ; .V A ' - & W/- it |p "On August 13 I attended a mating of the McHenry County Genealogical Society withAlex and Elvera J us ten. I joined the organization that evening, but since I live 200 mite\ away I am afraid I cannot be a - very active s member. However, since my roots are in McHenry (Freund, Jus ten, Knox and Suttop were my four grandparents) I fell I should support the group and show my interest by a mem bership." Must see if I can find some Sutton-Walsh history for my third cousin To our door came Larry Huck with a couple of Irish potatoes grown in his gar den. From the size of those taters, one might think they were crossed with a pum pkin. Joe Giimore returned from a visit with relatives in the southern part of Illinois and reported t dry ipell down there that was so bad it had the gophers com plaining. Pauline Ninsgern gave me a picture of the McHenry High baseball team of 1521. This was printed on the Plaindealer sports pa^ back in September, 1371. May print it again some ,n time. Hate to think eight of the twelve players are deceased- It was a real happy shindig at Chapel Hill Country' Club Tuesday night when the Plairiealer group surprised Editor "Brenda" on the occasion of the 40th an niversary of her association with this newspaper -- It was a real surprise as < some of her co-workers tracked her into going out to dinner. The crowd arrived early find whooped it up when she arrived. Former publishers Larry o Lund and Bill Burfeindt joined the group. Lila Burfeindt was present, but Lynn Lund was unable to make it. We mirsed her. "Brenda" took some reacting from the various speakers, bnt handed back as much as she took. It was a fun night. When hits the 50 mark on the job, the whole deal will bo repeat?'!.
