This is the philosophy adopted by Kathy Buil in her first yeah as coach of the Johnsburg volleyball team. After a standout four-year career in volleyball at Winona State University, Bull feels an obligation to give her girls the best. "Begin out of college, I'm trying to get them to learn college techniques," she said. "My job is to give them the best and these girls are ready to learn a complicated offense and defense, just like at a college level." An asset to this philosophy is the Skyhawks overall height and jumping ability which Bull couldn't help but notice. "I was really impressed," she said. "They're all pretty good size and they're such good jumpers." Cheri Kofler is the best with a 21-inch vertical jump. She is one of four returing seniors that Bull expects to be the leaders of the team. The other three are Patti, Haag, Deb Sobiesk, and Sue Dehn, ranked as the number one setter. Junior Diane Heard is the tallest of the Skyhawks at 6'1", but many of her teammates will also stand out as they extend to 57" or better. The offense, however, won't be geared around any one player, as Bull has indicated that there will be plenty of subbing. The squad will consist of five seniors, six juniors, and sophomore Teresa Hauck, all of whom will see noteable playing time. The fifth senior is Dawn Hayne, and the other junior members are Megan Hall, Lori Nichols, Jane Pecucci, Carol Schmidt, and Paula Wroblewski. "The enthusiasm has been just excellent," said Bull. "That's certainly a big help." This is also evidenced by the more than 40 girls that came out for the team before school started. After the first day of class only four more went out.
