Skyhawks Fall Although Johnsburg's volleyball team lost in straight sets at Hononegah last Thursday, Skyhawk coach Kathy Bull believes her team will be a better one for competing with the much larger school "They're a very fine team," she said. "They ran a quicker offense they we did. but I know that we played well with them." Johnsburg lost by scores of i5-6 and 15-9 Besides enjoying Lilt home ;e'd advantage, Hunonegah ..'.So was aided b> three •.quad members that stood at least 5'10" and repeatedly scored on spikes. "It's hard to accept losing," said Bull. "But hopefully we learned something that we can work on for the next tim we play them." Sue Dehn led the Skyhawks in scoring in the two games and Patti Haag, another senior, also played a fine game at the net, according to Bull. Johnsburg, now 3-3 for the season, will play at Harvard Tuesday night, and will be at Grant on Wednesday, Sept. 23 for a 4:30 p.m. match. Hockey Team Loses 2-0 McHenry high school's field hockey team opened its season with a 2-0 loss at the hands of Maine East last Friday Although neither team managed to score in the first half, East got on the board with nearly 10 minutes gone in the second thirty minutes of play, and shortly thereafter added its final goal First year coach John Sytsma recognized that his team's stength has been in its defense. "East got a lot of shots on goal against us," he said "But our defense was very good led by Jeanine Sek and our goalie Karen Karpavicious who did fantastic jobs " "We kept the ball in their half of the field mo6t of the afternoon," he added. But we just couldn't score "They really had only four times to score on us and they did on two of those occasions." Offensively, Sue Bielsky was the Warriors chief threat and played extremely well, according to Sytsma McHenry was also aided by the fact that East had more penalties called against them, in this their second game. East had earlier lost to Lake Forest, one of the top teams in the state. The Warriors will be at Barrington on Thursday, then will be off until Saturday, Oct. 3 when they travel to Deerfield.
