Four of the eight couples chosen by Senior class members as candidates are shown above. Pictures of the remaining four will appear in the Friday, Oct. 16 issue of the McHenry Plaindealer. Among those seeking the honor are Kathy Costigan, daughter of Luther and Mary Watson. 1508 Millstream drive, McHenry. She has been active in cheerleading; as a class officer; StudMt Council; and the National Honor society. Her future PHILANNE SCULLY AND KELLY GARTNER plans are to attend college and study elementary education. Dave Smith participates in baseball and basketball an&the plans to attend college and study physical education. He is the son of Ron and Barb Smith, 4316 Ponca street, McHenry. Philanne Scully, daughter of Jay and William Godshall, 8008 Oak wood drive, Wonder Lake, is the Pom Pom captain; Senior class officer; Student Council officer; and is a member of the National Honor society. She also had the honor of being a Girls State candidate and won the title of Miss Wonder Lake. Philanne plans to attend either ISU, SIU or WIU and major in Mass Communication, with an Education minor. Kelly JOANN CAMPBELL AND JOHN BAZAN Gartner, son of Bill and Sherry Gartner, 4611 Shore drive, McHenry, is in the Army Reserves and completed basic training this past summer. His fourth year on the football team, Kelly is a captain and received numerals, nines and major M. He plans to go to college; major in P.E.; enroll in an ROTC program while in college; and graduate as an officer. JoAnn Campbell, daughter of Jerry and Ozetta Campbell, 1901 N. Flower street, McHenry, is active in cheerleading and belongs to the National Honor society. Her plans for the future include studying law at college. John and \ JAMIE KIRK AND DENNIS DEJA Dorothy Bazan. 9810 Osage road, Wonder Lake, are the parents of John Bazan. He participates in baseball and his plansuor the future are still undecided. Jamie Kirk is the daughur of Bill and Betty Kirk, 417 N. Front street, McHenry. In past years, she has been a class officer and member of the Student Council and volleyball team. Some of her hobbies are skiing and intermural sports. She wants to attend college and enter the field of business. Dennis Deja is the son of Mary and Larry Deja, 1511 Freund avenue, McHenry. He is a member of the Varsity football team. Seek Woman Of The Year The McHenry Business and Professional Women's club is currently accepting nominations for the Woman of the Year award. The deadline for entering a nominee is Friday, Oct. 16, and the name of the recipient of the coveted title will be revealed at the Oct. 26 club meeting. A ballot form is printed herewith. They may be deposited in the ballot boxes at two banks in McHenry or mailed to Dorothy Haddick McKenna, 2307 Edgewood court, McHenry. The nominee must be a woman over 25 years of age, having a working career, or reared from a career, and whp has made a notable copati;iDution to her com munity and career. Lynne Donarski, president of the club, recently started the 1981-82 season with an interesting dinner meeting at a restaurant in Crystal Lake. Membership chair man, Barbara Walters supervised the meeting and urged each member to seek new members during the current membership campaign. Beth Brinkman Cianci, Legislative Aide to State Representative Jill Zwick, sDoke on the subject " Women's Rights in our Society". Ms. Cianci presented some arousing views and an interesting question and comment session followed. Special recognition was given to B.P.W. vice president Edna Fanning, who recently was honored at the Drake hotel meeting of the Aquin Guild. Over 2,000 persons were in attendance at their dinner meeting as Mrs. Fanning was awarded the outstanding Educator of the Year award. B.P.W. District VI will host a fund raiser event on Sunday Nov. 8. Announce Art Festival For Handicapped Youth The fourth annual series of very special arts festivals will be held at the Waukegan Developmental center in Waukegan on Thursday, Oct. 22, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. The festival will provide an opportunity for Lake, Cook and McHenry county handicapped youths to ex perience various art forms in a "make and take" for mat. Learning by doing is the focus of the program.
