TTiere will be games and plenty of good refreshments, so join in the fun at the American Legion post home, Saturday, Oct. 31, from 1:30- 3:30 p.m. PACK 456 TO MEET The Cub Scouts and Webelos of Pack 456 will be holding their pack meeting on Wednesday .('Nov. 4, at 7 p.m., in the \Greenwood school gym, tinder the direction of Rich Hayes, Cubmaster. Highlight of the evening will be the Cross-over ceremony, whereby Cubs, who are eligible, will cross over a bridge and become Webelos. The Webelo leader is Randy Funk All of the dens will be competing for the at­ tendance award. Other awards that the scouts have achieved will be presented to them that evening, also Refreshments will be served after the meeting. Oct. 16 found Donna Mae (Dean) Spicer blowing out some birthday candles. A very happy anniversary to Ruth and Tom Cashin, Sr., who will be celebratfng their special day on Oct. 29. In its opening season last year, the spook house drew nearly 5,000 people from the McHenry county area. The youth group of the Crystal Lake Evangelical Free church, assisted by other churches, some in this area, has made numerous revisions and changes utilizing nearly 150 staff and thousands of dollars of electronic equipment. Bull Valley Scare occupies the same location as last year (7203 W. Mason Hill road; one mile west of Walkup) and will be open to the public Oct. 28-29, 7 to 10 p.m., and Oct. 30-31, 7 to 11 p.m. The site is easily accessible to the three cities of Crystal Lake, McHenry and Woodstock. District 12 Holds Bazaar Now is the time to pack up all those unwanted items for the P.T.O.'s "Trash and Treasures" booth. Items needed are childrens toys, books and games in good condition, dolls in any condition, knickknacks, j e w e l r y , p e r f u m e , glassware, decorative home items, small appliances, etc. Nd clothing please, unless brand new. We all hope you are up and about very soon. HAPPY HALLOWEEN With Halloween coming up this Saturday, please keep in mind the safety first motto. Children will not always remember this point when having fun. If you are planning to go out after dark take a flashlight and wear light colors. Keep a porch light on so those ghosts and goblins can see where they are walking. Also, parents should accompany children around the neighborhood. Halloween should be a fun time to remember. Let's help keep it a safe one in Johnsburg. HIGH SCHOOL NEWS The high school drama students will present a play entitled "Kind Ladies" on Nov. 12, 13 and 14, at 8 p.m. in the high school auditorium. HOLIDAY BAZAARS There are several bazaars coming up in November for the benefit of different groups. Please keep in mind your favorite organization when doing your fall clean up. TEACHER HONORED The Illinois State Board of Education will honor 122 individuals for their out­ standing contributions to the -state's K-12 education system at the annual "Those Who Excel" awards banquet Oct. 30 in Chicago. Among them is Katherine Leggee, Huntley elementary teacher, who received honorable mention.
