Sauberlich had other ideas, however, as he ran with the ball on fourth down only to lose seven yards as John Miedzianowski and Larry Dix brought him down. With a golden opportunity at the Hononagah three yard line, Williams ran Rorig for a yard then called his own number on a keeper for the score. The attempted two- point pass was incomplete and Johnsburg trailed 7-6 at 3:24 remaining in the first half. The Indians managed to keep the ball for only six plays on their next possession when Dave Tansor fumbled and Rorig recovered for the Skyhawks on their own 43-yard line with only 4o seconds remaining. The Indians outgained the Skyhawks 261-238 in total yards with most of that total being on the ground, although Johnsburg held a 13-7 advantage in first downs. Marian Central, coached by Mary Stoner, enters the tournament with a 12-7 overall record and is coming off a second place finish at the Harvard tournament this weekend. The Hurricanes lost to eventual champion Rich­ mond in the first match 2-15, 15-3, and 6-15. "We weren't really warmed up in that first match," said Stoner. "But then we relaxed and played better for the rest of the tournament." Marian then defeated North Boone in straight sets 154, 15-2; and Anally host Harvard lS-JLl,' 15-13 to secure second place. In their last home match of the year, the Hurricanes fell victim to red hot Johnsburg Thursday night. Marian won tie first set 16-14, but Johnsburg won the second , set 15-4 and the deciding third set 15-6. Jean Thompson led Marian in the first set ser­ ving for eight straight points before Jennifer Johnson •came on to put the game away. In the second set, Thompson served Marian to a quick 4-0 lead. But then Diane Heard served seven straight points for the Skyhawks and Sue Dehn served for the final eight in a row to tie the match at (me set apiece. In the third set of the evening, sophomore Theresa Hauck gave Johnsburg a 8-0 lead before Marian called time out. Dehn kept the momentum going for the Skyhawks with two more points, Cheri Kofler added three more, and despite1 four straight points by Marian's Maggie Monson, Johnsburg would go on to win. "We're not quitters," said first year coach Kathy Bull about her Skyhawks. "We have our moments when we lapse up, but we are a comeback team. We believe in each other." Friday night at John­ sburg's last regular season match of the year, a crowded gymnasuim saw tjie Skyhawks win their ninth of their last 10 games as they topped Marengo 15-0, 15-12. The first set marked the first time ever that a Johnsburg volleyball team had shut out an opponent and there were many witnessses to the event. "There must have been between 100 to 150 people watching us that night," said Bull. "It's nice to see that many people at a girl's event." This program is open to area residents who are interested in playing open volleyball. The program runs from October 13, 1981 to March 30, 1982 and is from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. This is a participation program and those who attend should wear appropriate clothing. This is a drop in program. YOUTH WRESTLING CLUB The City of McHenry Department of Parks and Recreation is now taking registration for its youth Wrestling Club program. This program is an instructional class to teach the necessary conditioning and skills required for this sport. The program coordinator is Marty Sobczak, head wrestling coach at McHenry high school. Hie program begins on Wednesday, Oct. 28 at McHenry high school East Campus. Class begins at 7:00 p.m. and ends at 8:30 p.m. The session runs for 11 weeks and the program is open for boys who are presently in grades 5-8.
