PAGE H - PLA1NDEALER - FRIDAY. NOVEMBER «, 1181 Holiday decorations which are easy on you -- and your budget Make your holiday decora tions this year...and make some as delightful thoughts for friends. The ingredients are in your local craft or vari ety store... some even in your own home. The pompous Santa, for ex ample, is made of pieces of felt cut out and molded over a paper coffee cup topped with a ball. The ornaments have trans lucent centers of pure glue. Use cookie cutters as your frames, or make your own with a narrow strip shaped and glued into a circle or a diamond. Set shapes on a board smoothly covered with foil, then pour in enough Elmer's Glue-All to form a thin layer --being sure glue covers whole area and touches sides of shapes. Let dry overnight. Peel foil from ornaments and decorate with Glue-Paint, made by mixing glue and food coloring. Allow one color to dry for 10-15 minutes before applying an adjoining color. Finish with ribbon glued around the outside. The bird is hand carved from Glue-Dough, a combi nation of equal parts of Elmer's Glue-All, cornstarch and flour It is rolled out to de- QUICK AND EASIES--Holiday decorations which need only a few ingredients such as pompoms, felt, ribbon, Elmer's Clue-All, food coloring and some imagination. sired thickness and cut into shapes. If you are not talented, work with cookie cutters. The bird is two pieces--one for his body, the othdt his wings which are worked together. The ribbon ball and pom pom wreath require just an ability to glue two things to gether. What better way to make the holiday spirit "shine" than with an elegant crystal de canter filled with a favorite beverage such as a mellow, aged Scotch? This classic spirit, known around the world, is as tradi tional as Santa Claus, Father Christmas or Prrc Noel him self, and just as appreciated. Couple the decanter with on the rocks, stemmed or high ball glasses, and there's no finer way to toast to auld lang syne and the year to come. Another entertaining solu tion and, of course, the most welcome is to create your own gift. This year, why not try something delightfully delicious?
