Chief William Mullen, during the monthly police report, announced that ef fective immediately, the McHenry Shores Police department will be issuing warning tickets regarding equipment violations. These warning tickets will serve as a courtesy to drivers, to bring to their attention faulty headlights, brakelights, turn signals, mufflers and other ^automobile equipment failures that the driver might not be aware of. Chief Mullen stressed the fact that these warning tickets are strictly for equipment violations only, and that the driver has five days after being issued the warning ticket in which to have the problem rectified. If it is not fixed after five days, a regular citation can then be issued. Chief Mullen also stated that these warning tickets in no way reflect on your driving record. They are an excellent way of making our motorists aware of any equipment failures that could possibly cause potential accidents, and if these can help even one accident from occuring due to equipment failure, they will have more than served their purpose.
