Diane Berlin Johnsburg 675-6291 Baby Sitting Safety Course The Johnsburg P.T.O. is offering its "Babysitting Safety Course", to all students, fifth grade and up. Classes will be held on the following evenings; Tues., Jan. 5, Thurs., Jan. 7, Tues., Jan. 12, and Thurs., Jan. 14 at the Johnsburg Junior high school, from6:30to8:30 p.m. Registration forms will be available from school offices die first week in December. Sign up deadline is Dec. 23. Parental permission is required. Safety features from the police, fire, and rescue squads, as well as discipline and care of the child, are just a few of the items covered. For any further inv formation call Patsy Hiller at 385-8399. The course is free. N.C.S.F. The girl Foresters at­ tended a roller skating party Nov. 15, with 38 skaters involved in the fun. They participated in many types of skating, including races. The girls agreed it was an event they would like repeated. The next meeting will include a Christmas party to begin at 6:30 on De.c 14. There will be a grab bag for the different age groups as follows: preschool to first grade $1 to $1.50; second to fifth $2 to $2.50; sixth through high school, $3 to $3.50. Bring a dish to pass for the potluck dinner and don't forget to bring Mom along too. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ...:to Christine Freund, who celebrated her eleventh year on Nov. 18. This wish is coming from all of your family and friends at Windy Prairie Acres. Timmy Hiller celebrated his fifth birthday Nov. 24; Joe Meyer had his special day on Nov. 29, being his seventeenth. This month, the pack completed a service project by working at Harrison- Benwell park in Wonder Lake. There were 33 boys attending to the chores given them, including spreading wood chips for a new trail along the nature trail. For the next meeting, the pack will collect canned goods and other non- perishable goods for our needy family. Please bring these items to the Dec. 16 meeting. Hubbard Street Dance Company: Thursday- Saturday, Dec. 3-5, 8:15 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 6, 3 p.m. Lou Conte's Hubbard Street Dance company has enjoyed increasing success as an audience pleaser particularly during the last year. The December con­ certs will be the company's third visit to the Opera House. Theatrical staging and costumes, music ranging from ragtime and swing to Jean-Luc Ponty, and dance styles including tap and modern combine to produce the midwest's most acclaimed dance per­ formances. These concerts follow a sold-out run at Chicago's Goodman theatre. Death Toll Mounts The Superintendent of Illinois state police, Ronald J. Miller, announced the latest figures which show that during the month of October, 133 persons died from injuries sustained from traffic accidents on Illinois streets and highways. State Police, District 2, which covers Lake, McHenry, DeKalb, Kane and DuPage counties reported 220 persons have been killed in these counties since Jan. 1 of this .year. Two hundred and thirty persons were killed during the same period last year in these counties. A breakdown of the statistics in October shows Lake county had 10 fatalities; McHenry county had two, DuPage county had two, Kane county had two and DeKalb county had none. As a comparison for Oc­ tober of 1980, Lake county had three; McHenry county had seven; DuPage county had seven; Kane county had one and DeKalb county had none. Music of the Baroque: Sunday, Dec. 20, 3 p.m. Under the direction of Thomas Wikman, a 14-piece chamber orchestra in­ cluding harpsichord and organ continuo will perform works by Bach, Haydn and Vivaldi. Considered the midwest's authority on and finest performers of baroque music, Thomas Wikman and Music of the Baroque were invited twice to perform at the White House.
