KERRN BATDORFF CANDLELIGHT CEREMONY ~ In the soft glow of candlelight, the former Marisa Lynn Mitterling and Kerry Lee Batdorff were united in marriage before the Reverend Richard N. Wright in the Wonder Lake Bible church. Wonder Lake, 111. The 4:30 p.m. nuptial was performed Nov. 7 and special musical selections included "It Seems I've Always Loved You" sung by the bride's friend. Donna Kratz, accompanied on the piano by Sue Menolasino: and "Walk Hand in Hand' sung by Gary Honeywell, accompanied by Mrs. Ruth Brabenec on the organ. I'he bride is the daughter of Samuel K. a.id Carole L Mitterliwg, Womkriuere road, Wonder Lake. The groom's parents are Mrs. Phyllis Batdorff, 5104 Lear street. Wonder Lake and Mr. Myron Batdorf, San Diego, Calif. A buffet-sit d«<wn dinner was served to 250 guests immediately following the ceremony, at the church. The couple will make their home on the east side of Wonder Lake upon returning from two weeks of swimming, fishing and tennis in Siesta Key, Fla The new Mrs. Kennebeck graduated from Woodstock Community high school in 1980: attended Southeastern Bible college, Birmingham, Ala., M.C.C., • tystal Lake and works in the office of Doctors \. Narang & Merino, Crystal Lake. Her husband, a graouatt of McHenry Community high school, is an assistant chief engineer for Lieberman Health Care center, Skokie, 111. Senior Walk-In Center Meals are served Monday hrough Friday at the McHenry Walk-In center beginning at 11:45 a.m. Reservations must be made by 1:30 p.m. the day before at 385-8260 The menu for the week of Dec. 7 through 11 is as follows: Dec. 7: Chili with crackers, carrot and celery strips, corn bread, pear with lime jello, milk Dec. 8: Pork Chow Mein, brussel sprouts, roll, but­ terscotch pudding, milk. Dec. 9: Stuffed pepper, bran muffin, whipped dessert, wax beans, milk. Dec. 10: Macaroni and cheese, hot dog slices, stewed tomatoes, rye bread, cupcake, milk. Dec. 11: Fish, cole slaw, beets, wheat bread, gingerbread with topping, milk. MARRIAGE LICENSES Applications for marriage licenses were recently made in McHenry County Clerk's office by: James A. Stoffe' and Gail --L. Stpand. both McHenry; y^DbnaldTR. Leonard and Michiko Nakamurs, both MpHenry. Mr. and Mrs. James D. Curran of McHenry recently celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary at a buffet reception and the Reverend James Gaynor of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic church opened the festivities with a few words on the commitment, love and hard work required for a marriage to be maintained fifty years. Following a prayer, State Representative Jill Zwick gave the toast. After dinner, the couple performed the ritual of cutting a fi^e-tiered cake and a short program followed. State Representative Dick Klemm presented the couple with a copy of a resolution passed by the House, which acknowledges their an niversary. Senator Jack Schaffer added his own personal congratulations. Paul Fidler presented a resolution of congratulations from the McHenry County Board, of which Mr. Curran is a member. Mrs. Archie (Anita) Sherwood sum­ marized the 20 years of public involvement through which she has known and worked with him. Personal letters from President and Mrs. Reagan, Governor and Mrs. James Thompson and U.S. Congressman Robert Mc- Clory were read by Dorothy Curran. With one exception, the entire Curran family was present, including their four daughters, Mrs. Rosina O'Donnell of Woodstock with her six children; Mrs. Colin (Kathryn) Spencer of Oswego, her husband and two children; Dorothy Curran of Orland Park and Mrs. John (Carol) Hays of Urbana, her husband and two boys; also, their son James, Jr. of McHenry and his wife. Other special guests were two of Mr. Curran's aunts residing in Coal, City, Mrs. John (Emma) Rogers and Mrs. Russell (Carrie* Palmer. His sister, Mrs. Clarence (Edna) Luby and her husband were represented by their granddaughter and her husband. Mrs. Curran's sister Mrs. Rose (Grasser Walczak) Kec and her husband of Oak Brook, brother Francis Grasser and his wife of Woodstock and brother-in- law Joe Jung of Woodstock were seated at the head table. Her brother Isadore Grasser of Pensacola, Fla. was unable to attend, but his daughter visited with the couple and many other nieces and nephews attended with their families. Among those attending who have kept a close relationship with the Currans since they were first married were Glen and Daisy Bacon of McHenry, Art and Doris Harris of McHenry and Mrs. Wayne (Genevieve) Gratz of Libert yville. Friendship Club Holds Election Of Officers When the Friendship club of the First United Methodist church of McHenry meets Saturday, Dec 12, at 5:30 p.m., in the Fellowship hall, election of officers for 1982 will be one of the important items on the agenda. The program will be a fun one and Lyda Radisch is in charge. Hosts and hostesses in­ clude Cleda and Leonard McCracken, Lyda Radisch, Helen and Ham Lundy and Gertrude Anderson The Meat committee consists of Marie Mullere Helen and Dan Creamer Mae Eltoft, Vivian and Bill Richards, Grace and Adolph Borchers, Marjorie Rickei and Shirley and John Hosie Members are reminded U bring gifts for Valley Hi Nursing Home, wrapped as birthday presents and marked for a lady or man. The Stanges have volun­ teered to deliver the gifts to the home. All those in the congregation 50 years old or older, who do not belong to Friendship club, are invited and urged to come and enjoy the warm fellowship and good times. 1 EDGEBROOK PTO PLANS BAZAAR - Shown decorating the school tree in preparation for the PTO bazaar are, at top, third grader Trista Fowles, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Fowles and fifth grader Tracy Funk, daughter of Paul and Peggy Funk. This annual event will be held at Edgebrook school in McHenry Saturday, Dec. 5, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Santa will be there to talk to the children from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 1:30 p.m In additon to a variety of Christmas articles on sale, there will also be pizza, coffee and donuts available for purchase, and a bake sale, along with other craft items - all to benefit PTO projects for the school. All McHenry Senior Citizens Arrange Christmas Dinner MR. AND MRS. ROCH KENNEBECK RESIDE IN MCHENRY - Newly married Mr. and Mrs. Roch Kennebeck are residing at 1217 May avenue, McHenry, following their exchange of promises of marriage Oct. 24. Dr. Eric J. Snyder officiated at the 3 p.m. ceremony in Faith Presbyterian church, McHenry, and special music was provided on guitars by the groom's sister Mary Jo Hare and her husband Charlie, with Ogley Yates on the violin. The bride is the former Bonnie Boike, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Wilbur Boike, 1111 S. Pontiac, McHenry. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Kennebeck, 1408 W. Channel Beach, McHenry are the parents of the bridegroom. Prior to leaving for a week's honeymoon in Florida, the newly weds were honored at a reception for 46 guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Blum and family. The bride received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from D'Youville college, Buffalo, N.Y. and is presently an R.N. at Richmond-Burton Community high school. The groom, a graduate of Marian Central Catholic high school in 1973, is presently employed as a mechanic for Buss Ford, McHenry. A Christmas dinner will be held at the McHenry Country club at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, for the McHenry Senior Citizens club and Dorothy Hollander will entertain everyone with appropriate music. Tickets may be obtained from Ruth Fradell. At a recent meeting of the group, Adele Froehlich led the McHenry Choral club in a Christmas concert. They gave a preview of Christmas Story Book Ball, which they will perform Dec. 5 and 6 at West campus. Mrs. Louise Giel has tickets to sell for the concert. The seniors expressed their appreciation for the many fine programs the choral club has given at their meetings. * It was announced that there are still some openings available on the second bus scheduled to go to the Chicago Loop on Tuesday, Dec 8. The bus will leave the Market Place at <i:30 a.m. and those interested may contact Ruth Fradell for tickets. Evelyn Liehr, greeter, awarded prizes to Fern Lewis. Marianne Wennstoni and Irene Kolan. Leone Husch, Mem­ bership, reported there are 505 members. She is collecting yearly dues for 1982. Clem Umbdenstock. Tour chairperson, advised that everyone-enjoyed the fair at Milwaukee and he is plan ning a tour to see a play at Lincolnshire in January or Kebruary. Richmond. 111., Saturday, Dec. 5. Diane Munson, daughter of the late Catherine Munson of McHenry, and Philip Armstrong were married Dec. 1, 1956, at the First United Methodist church, McHenry. They were both raised in McHenry and Mrs. Armstrong was a volunteer for several years with the Pink Ladies of McHenry hospital The couple are the parents of a daughter, Mrs. Theodore (Cindy) Diedrich of McHenry; a son Philip of Zion, 111.; and one grand­ daughter Amanda K.
