It was held at Doris Lockerbie's charming country home with officer Joe Eisele of the sheriff's department as guest speaker A film, "It Could Happen to You", b> Jenne B r a y . p o l i c e w o m a n , illustrated some of the dangers that the average pedestrian ;*nd home owner faces As Fisele pointed out, let's not make it easy by leaving cars unlocked (80 percent of vehicles have keys left in them), or b> leaving doors unlocked (from Sept. 1980-81. 297 doors were left unlocked). He suggested that we list all articles in the home for insurance form and use engraving tool for identification, using our social security number or license number. In general, use common sense for yourself, concern tor your neighbors, and thankfulness foi policemen such as Eisele Our next meeting and annual Christmas luncheon- gift exchange will be Saturday. GROUP I received a call from a very appreciative lady made brighter by a group of Wonder Lake people who are members of the Rt. 12 C.Bers. This group was responsible for helping out 30 families by bringing turkeys and canned goods to them. Wonder Lake members are Bushman, Gabby, Covered Wagon, Scotchman, Don and Pat, and a Holiday Hills couple, Mr. and Mrs. Randy Skelton. This group certainly made those 30 families feel good and it gave me a great IfeHUflM Versatile Power Tools & Accessories A. What better time to remind everyone that Santa will arrive in McHenry Saturday, Dec. 12 and will be at his hut at the Pearl Street park. Be sure to be there so you can get your list to him early. DROP IN. The people who work in the Plaindealer office have often wondered if Carol Cominsky would ever show her face in the office. In the 22 months I've been writing this column no one has ever seen me because I drop off the weekly news in the mail slot late Thursday night or Joel would do it early Friday morning on his way through town. I wish I had a camera last Peek when I finally made an appearance. It took plenty of courage to walk in sans makeup with a red nose and chapped lips from a terrible cold, but I did it. Now when I call Betty with a question I won't have to imagine what the face looks like on the other end of the line and vice versa. DEEPSORROW We send our deepest condolences to Sue Prazak and her family on the death of her father Frank Bit- terman, Nov. 28. Mr. Bit- terman had resided in the McHenry area for many years and had moved to Crivitz, Wis., several years ago with his wife Lillias. The day of his death was also their thirty-eighth wed ding anniversary. What should have been a joyous occasion turned out to be a very unhappy one. There are many members of his family who live in the area and we ask the Lord to be with them in their time of sorrow. CELEBRATIONS Beth and Tom Jenkins SECTION 2 - PAGE 5 • PLAINDEALER - WEDNESDAY. DECEMBER •, 1181 have been a very busy couple since Thanksgiving. They had the complete turkey dinner on Thursday with their daughter Kelly Jo, grandpa Emil and grandma Lou Jeeninga, aunt Goggie, aunt Linda and uncle Vern Fay with their children Robbie and Tiffany; also Beth's brother Tim and his girlfriend Jane. There were plenty of leftovers so Linda and Vern returned the next day with their children and friends Jim and Danni Sanford also came by with their children Kim and Stacy. A few days later Kelly Jo was in a folk dancing recital at Valley View school. Beth was in McHenry hospital recuperating from a fall at home over the weekend and Tom had to work that evening so mom recruited neighbors Carol and Steve Sedlak and aunt Linda and uncle Vern to accompany her for the big night. Many pictures were taken so her parents could see their young lady go through the steps she'd learned the past few weeks.
