ALUMNI BREAKFAST The annual MCHS alumni breakfast will be held Wednesday, Dec. 23, at 8 am in the West campus cafeteria. All graduates of McHenry high school are invited to attend, and 1961 graduates will be especially honored. Don Peasley Photography Plaque Old Bull Valley Schoolhouse THERESA MICHELLICH AND MITCHELL PERRY The Cold Springs Schoolhouse on Bull Valley- road is the fifth building in the county to be recognized by the McHenry County- Historical society for its historic value Nancy Fike of McHenry curator of the Historical society, presented a plaque to owners Ken and Darlene Fiske About 25 people asociated with the school were present for the ceremony The school was deeded in 1868 and built about 1870. A typical one-room structure of the period, it served School District 70 from that time until the school districts consolidated in 1946. Mrs. Mae Garrison, who was present at the ' reunion", was the secretary of the last school board and signed the minutes of the final meeting. All of the former students tried to identify old class pictures from the early part of the century donated to the Historical society. Vernon Collen of Woodstock was graduated from the Cold Springs school in 1915 and his wife. Jessie, also attended the school LaVern Fleming of Hebron brought his 1916 graduation program with him and his wife Elsie Menzeli and Grace Ebert Hall reminisced about their school friends from 1927. John Ritzert and Arlene Fleming Faber were able to add names of their classmates from the '40s to the list the Historical society is trying to compile. Tekla Malmstrom Austin and Eugenia Malmstrom Mansfield enjoyed chatting with their early neighbor. Mrs Kenneth M Fiske The senior Fiskes owned the land surrounding the school property and bought it at public auction in January. 1547 The former students enjoyed hearing Ken read the account of the sale from his father's papers and remembered the various school properties as they •* ere listed on the bill of sale. Everett Thomas.
