JULY Doherty's remained the class of the league in the Western division of men's 12-inch Softball by winning all five of its games to boost its record t9 11-0. \ Included in those wins were victories over the top three teams in the Eastern division: 9-3 over the Fox Hole Tap, 11-9 over the Old Bridge, and 8-7 ove^ Wayne's. In the game against Wayne's, Jeff Meddings drove in Mike Rogers with a late inning single to keep Doherty's unbeaten. The Fox Hole took over first place in the East with a 9-2 record while Wayne's and the Old Bridge tied for second place with 7-4 records. Tom Spasojevich of the Western division Johnsburg Businessmen, went 6-for-6 in his last two games to take over the batting leadership with a .750 average. McHenry's American Legion baseball team fell upon hard times during July winning only three of nine games played. McHenry started out strong with wins of 3-0 over Genoa and 9-6 over De Kalb but then lost five straight. •Before the month ended, McHenry chalked up win number three by win ning the annual Old Timers game 10-5. Jeff Major did the most damage for the winners as he went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and had four runs batted in. McHenry closed out the month losing at Algonquin. In women's 16-inch Softball, Ed's Rental had another perfect month as five victories combined for a 12-0 overall record in the Tuesday night league.
