Family Film Series The Lutheran Church of All Saints on State Park road in Fox Lake will open its doors to the Chain-O-Lakes community during February and March when the church presents the "Focus on The Family" film series as part of its lenten program. "Families are hurting", says Pastor Joe Hughes, "and we in the church need to find way^s to help strengthen the families of our community. That's why we are opening this program during February and March to the.entire community. We want to help." The "Focus on the Family" film series will begin Sunday, Feb. 21, when the first of the seven films in the series is shown at the church. The series features one of America's leading experts on family life, Dr. James Dobson. It was advertised in the Helping Paws column as lost but no one called her in as found. On Jan. 2, a white Persian was reported as found on Crystal Lake avenue, not too far from Victor parkway. Helping Paws checked this out and fortunately it was the same cat. After almost four months the family was reunited! All pet adoptions must be validated by the signing of a contract along with the adoption fee which includes the cost of the spay or neuter surgery from a vet of HP's choice, or a deduction from the cost of the surgery if done by a vet of your choice. VFW Auxi l iary EMPLOYMENT SURVEY Local representatives of the Bureau of the Census will conduct a survey of em­ ployment in this area during the work week of Feb. 16-20, James Johnson, acting director of the bureau's regional office in Chicago, announced. The survey is conducted for the U.S. Department of Labor in a scientifically designed sample of approximately 71,000 households throughout the United States. Em­ ployment and unem­ ployment statistics based on results of this survey are used to provide a continuing measure of the economic health of the nation. Select State Essay Winner This Weekend The State of Illinois Veterans of Foreign Wars and Ladies auxiliary annual banquet honoring the Voice of Democracy essay champions throughout the state will be held Saturday, Feb. 13, at the Holiday Inn East motel in Springfield. Nineteen young people representing each district in the state will be quests of honor at the banquet. The student who will represent the state at the National Voice of Democracy com­ petition will be named at that time. He (or she) will compete for scholarships valued at ono $14,000 Sunday, Feb. 14, the students will go on an escorted "Land O' Lincoln" bus tour which will ter­ minate at Lincoln's Tomb in Oakridge cemetery The V . b . W . and Ladies auxiliary pilgrimage to the Tomb of Abraham Lincoln will commence at 10:30 a.m. with a ceremony to take place at the tomb at 11 a.m. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kuck of McHenry are planning to attend the weekend func­ tions. Mrs. Kuck is president of the Ladies auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4600. H associate clinical professor of Pediatrics. He has authored several books on the family and is a com­ mitted Christian lay-person. His film series aims to strengthen the family and build up the close relation­ ships of people to one another. ORCHESTRAL AUDITIONS The Woodstock "Musical Theatre company will, hold orchestral auditions for its spring production of "Ap­ plause!" Monday, Feb. 22, at the Woodstock Opera House, Director Clark Chaffee asks musicians to prepare a 2 to 3 minute solo, and to sight read. Brass auditions will be held at 7 p.m., followed by woodwinds at 7:45 p.m., and strings at 8:30. "Applause!" will be presented weekends of March 19 through April 3 in the Woodstock Opera House.
