On Saturday, March 6, MCC will hold its fifth annual Women's Information day, a special day of free activities designed to introduce women, spouses, families and friends to the local college, its facilities and services. Women's Information day includes a chance to attend two free seminars which can be chosen from a list of 13 varied topics. There will also be a luncheon and keynote speech by Judith Arcana, an author who writes about the experience of being a mother and about mother-child relationships. The day is also an op­ portunity to tour MCC's campus and see the displays prepared by local groups and MCC students especially for Women's Information day. Seminar topics for the day include Career Exploration, Women in Politics. Asser- tiveness, Coping with Stress, Time Management, and Goal Setting. There are also sessions titled "Parenting and the Juvenile Court System", "Permission to Be You", "Returning to School: The Trials and Tribulations", "Exploring M i d - L i f e C h a n g e s Creatively", "The Nature of Leadership", "Amazing Glimpses of Women's History", and "The Long Term Effects of Rape on the Victim". Seminar speakers include MCC counselors and in­ structors and others such as Woodstock Mayor Frances Kuhn; School District 47 Superintendent Bob Blazier; Judge Haskell M. McHenry Senior Citizens Welcome New Club Members Newcomers and old- timers in this area interested in joining an active organization are urged to become a member of the McHenry Senior Citizen's club. The group meets in the cafeteria of McHenry high school East campus every second and fourth Monday at 7 p.m. Activities include tours every month, and programs followed by coffee with cake or cookies at every meeting. Bowling is available for members at the McHenry Recreation center Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.; and Fridays at 12:30 p.m. One may come any of these times, or all of them. The first party of the season for the club is to be a St. Patrick's luncheon at the McHenry Country club, Wednesday, Mar. 17, at 1 p.m. A delicious meal, entertainment and good fellowship will be offered at a nominal price. Set Feb. 21-27 Homemakers Extension Association Week Feb. 21-27 has been d e s i g n a t e d a s "Homemakers Extension Association Week" in Illinois. What is H.E.A.? What does it do? The Homemakers Ex­ tension association is the o n l y p r o f e s s i o n a l o r g a n i z a t i o n f o r homemakers. Its aim, as stated by Juliet Banes, its first state director, is "To have every home e c o n o m i c a l l y s o u n d , mechanically convenient, p h y s i c a l l y h e a l t h f u l , morally wholesome, men­ tally stimulating, ar­ tistically satisfying, socially responsible, spiritually inspiring, founded upon mutual affection and respect". A d u l t e d u c a t i o n a l programs provided by the Cooperative Extension service of the University of Illinois help to promote these aims. These programs are also aimed at providing a better understanding of the relationships between home, community, state and nation. Individual groups of friends and neighbors, called units, gather on a regular basis to participate in these programs. They receive the latest information on what's new for home and family. Members learn how to do things they want or need to know. They meet with other homemakers for facts, fellowship and fun. Belonging to H.E.A. also means belonging to a group which can voice an opinion when needed. H.E.A. provides an opportunity to go places, to do things, such as tours, conferences, conventions, etc. The association also sponsors and helps with the 4-H program in the county. Included with county H.E.A. membership is membership in the Illinois Homemakers Extension Federation, National Ex­ t e n s i o n H o m e m a k e r s Council, and Associated Country Women of the World. The purpose of these organizations is to improve the quality of life and promote international un­ derstanding. McHenry County H.E.A. has set aside Friday, Feb. 26, to celebrate H.E.A. week.
