ABjC is banking on Clark's popularity to propel them to the top when they launch " Inside America," a soft- news magazine series that will debut opposite the CBS powerhouse on Sunday, April 4. Clark, who rose to fame as the host of "American Bandstand," will use his own production company to bring viewers tidbits of information about show business, sports and rock 'n' roll. In the debut episode, Jamie Lee Curtis will be the subject of a "second generation" story. The segment will include clips from, the careers of Miss Curtis's parents, Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, and will show how the young actress rose to pfomi- nence in the industry. Another segment will focus on the effects of crowds on athletes, which will be nar rated by Pittsburgh Steeler receiver Lynn Swann. ALL THAT GLITTERS: ABC, CBS and NBC are all involved in signing as many stars as possible for next season's prime-time wars. ABC has already lured Farrah Fawcett and Lindsay Wagner back to TV. The former stars of "Charlie's Angels" and "The Bionic Woman" both have development deals with the network that specify what they'll do and what they won't do again on the small screen. ABC has commissioned three production companies to come up with a vehicle for Miss Fawcett. Two con cepts are said to be in development for Miss Wagner. * " Over at NBC, the focus is on youth. Pierce Brosnnan, the Irish actor who received high marks for his performance in last fall's "Manions of Ameri ca" ABC mini-series, has been lured back to the United States for his own private eye series. "Rem ington Steel." Also back is ex;"Vegas" star Robert Urich, who'll play the lead role in "Gayilan," a dra ma about a dashing ex-Naval intelligence officer. CBS has inked Gil Gerard and Bob Newhart for next season. Gerard, who starred as Buck Rogers on NBC last year, will play a private eye in the fall. Newhart, who headlined with Suzanne Pleshette in a sitcom that carried his name, will again be featured in a comedic setting. SPRING FEVER:Each of the networks has at least one blockbuster mini-series in the can that may or may not be screened before the regular TV season ends in May. ABC has the World War II docudrama, "Inside the Third Reich," with Rutger Hauer; CBS features the Civil War epic "The Blue and the Gray" with John Hammond; while NBC may show the bio- pic "Marco Polo" with Ken Marshall in the title role. <0 1982 Computog .
