g Annexation Voting Only one special issue will be decided at the March 16 primary for McHenry area voters. This will be the proposed annexation of McHenry Shores to the City of The proposition will be presented as follows: "Shall the municipality of McHenry Shores be annexed to the municipality of McHenry?" For McHenry voters, the ballot, will be white, for McHenry Shores voters (Nunda Precinct 8), it will be brown. To pass, a majority of the votes cast is necessary in both municipalities. * Important to some voters who are reluctant to commit themselves to a political party in the primary is the fact that the McHenry Shores annexation issue will be decided through a separate ballot. Persons who wish to vote both on candidates and annexation Will sign two applications and vote in different booths for each. Those who wish to vote only on the annexation issue need not commit themselves to a political party, but will make application to vote at the separate booth established for that purpose. The freeze on hiring that the county initiated has been helpful in balancing the budget and I believe it should be continued for the time being. We have recently approved an Economic Development commission which should help bring in more revenue for all government entities. A careful watch that the charge for permits, license and inspections are in line with the costs the county incurs. I am a strong sup porter of encouraging commercial and industry expansion in the county to help build a sound tax base for the county and provide employment at home. In the case of capital outlay, it may be necessary to repair, rather than replace such things as office equipment, automobiles and other road equipment. DONALD P. DOHERTY Donald P. "As a member of the newly formed Economic Development committee, we are working with local municipalities to encourage retention and the expansion of business and industry located in the county. The county hiring freeze reduced the payroll drain on county funds and temporarily should continue. If the economy forces actions, county departments should be reduced on a priority basis with the Sheriff and the Senior Citizens fund being totally exempt as these areas are under-financed already. Tax increases should never be considered, unless it becomes necessary as an absolutely last resort. A four-day work week is a possibility. RICHARD A. MEYERS Richard A. This alone would save $400,000. 2) I would require all county departments to purchase office supplies, equipment, e t c . , t h r o u g h a c e n t r a l purchasing department. The amount of money spent at this time is unnecessarily high. ROBERT J. VISIN Robert J.
