It just so happens animal control for the county caught up with it in my yard. It won't be known for about a week if the animal was definitely rabid, but because of the strange actions of the animal, it was thought to be rabid. So keep a close watch on your pets. Don't let them run loose. If your pet is bitten or -kills a rabid animal, it too can become rabid. VILLAGE MEETING The second monthly meeting of the village was held Tuesday, March 16. Give Animals a Brake by Ms.FloKlemm Duffy is gone but left us with something to remember • be kind, be helpful. Should you inadvertently hit an animal with your car, don't just 'hit and ran', try, if possible, to offer some assistance. If the animal is dead, remove it to the side so it won't be run over again and again. On Feb. 22, at Terra Cotta and Illinois streets, Duffy was hit by a light colored van. The van didn't bother to stop. Duffy's owner fran tically tried to stop traffic long enough to get to her dog - possibly to save his life. A young couple, in a red car, stopped to assist her and a very kind policeman carried the dead dog to Mrs. Sathers' home. These people were so helpful. Duffy, 14 years of age, was an important member of the family and is missed very, much. When possible, do try to give animals a "Brake"! All pet adoptions must be validated by the signing of a contract along with the adoption fee which includes the cost of the spay or neuter surgery from a vet of HP's choice, or a deduction from the cost of the surgery if done by a vet of your choice.
