Despite the warnings and predictions of the weatherman, Easter Sun­ day, the greatest church holiday of the year, dawned bright and clear with the sun shining brightly throughout the day so that Christianity went forth to greet the Easter dawn in even greater number than customary and worshipped with all the traditional features of the feast that celebrate Christ triumphant in His resurrection. FORTY YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of April 2, 1942) Two hundred Legionnaires from all parts of McHenry county met in Woodstock. All twelve posts were represented, with Com­ mander Ben Magnusen of Cary presiding. The membership report of the county revealed at the meeting showed 766 mem­ bers signed to date, which is just 74 short of the mem­ bership for 1941. Several of the posts. including McHenry, have already reached their membership of last year. In fact McHenry has added two members since the beginning of the year. Miss Bobette Cristy. daughter of Mr and Mrs. Kenneth E. risty of Ringwood, was recently initiated into Delta Omicron national music sorority at Illinois Wesley an university. Bloomington Miss Cristy was graduated from McHenry high school in 1941. where she was a member of the band, orchestra, chorus and girls' athletic association. At Wesleyan Miss Cristy is a freshman in the School of Music, where / she is majoring in piano and minoring in voice.
