Keen Our Column To Continue Altera few short weeks off to concentrate all our efforts on the recent election, we are finally winding down, and getting back to normal, and into the swing of things. I am happy to say our McHenry Shores column will continue, and I plan on bringing you neighborhood and area news, as well as any information that might help you now that we are part of the city of McHenry. If you have any questions regarding city services or programs that we might not mention in this column, please don't hesitate to call me; I'll be more than happy to track down the in formation for you. Or, you can call McHenry City Hall at 385-0947, as they have been most helpful in providing us with in formation. The hours are, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Satur day, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. NEW VEHICLE STICKERS NEEDED City of McHenry vehicle stickers are required for all vehicles, and are available during business hours at McHenry City Hall, 1111 No. Green street. The deadline to obtain current vehicle stickers is May 1,1982. They are $6 each, and you will need to bring the make, year and license plate number of the vehicle. DOG TAGS Dog registration tags for McHenry county are also available at the city hall. They can be purchased for $4 a year, or $10 for three years. Let's keep and enlarge our community spirit by at tending the McHenry City Council meetings. These meetings are most informative, and our residents can benefit and learn much about the city services and governing body, by attending. They are held the first and third Monday (and fifth Monday if there is one) of each month, at 8 p.m. at the city hall. Let us continue to show our support! CONDOLENCES We were so saddened to hear of the recent passing of one of our residents, Mr. Anthony Calarco. He cared deeply about our village, and attended many board and citizen's group meetings, always so genuinely in terested in what was hap pening. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mrs. Calarco and the family, at this most sad and difficult' time. GET WELL WISHES A quick and healthy recovery wish goes to Allison Heald, who recently broke her finger, and had to be casted to her elbow! Allison, is one of our McHenry Tumbleweeds, so here's hoping you'll be back to flips and cartwheels very soon! We know you miss it! re couia •ft*, or all meat listed at WOMAN'S CLUB, ANYONE? I have had several inquiries about possibly starting a woman's club here again. If we had enough interest and ideas, it might be something to think about, so if you would like to possibly be involved, or if you have any hobbies or interests that we could pursue, like cral gardening, please call: the phone number the head of this column. It would be fun to get all the gals together, and the possibilities are endless as to what we could do. SUPER TURNOUT It was very encouraging to see the large turnout of our residents at the recent election! As stated before, it shows our continuing sup port and concern for our community. It was good to see some old familiar faces too, especially now that spring has sprung, and we are all starting to come out of our winter cocoons! Ah, Spring! HONORABLE MENTION Honorable mentions and medals of bravery should go to Howie Lexow and "Hack" Wilson for battling the elements of slush, snow, rain, large puddles and growling dogs while distributing the Chamber of Commerce information regarding the annexation right before the election. It was definitely a job well done, and one that was above and beyond the call of duty, considering the obstacles they encountered, including the large puddle Howie seemed to end up sitting in! What a trooper! CALL ME! Last but not least, it is more important than ever, that we have news to print In our column. Without the village board news, we must rely on you to call me with any news that you'd like to see in the column. I'd love to write about any birthdays, anniversaries, births, weddings, or vacation news that you might have. I will continue to seek out in formation that I feel would be of interest and concern to our residents, but I need your help too. Please don't hesitate to call me, with your questions or comments either. This column is for you!
