Grandma Sez . . . m & United Methodist Women Hear Speaker At Meeting Well, April sure played a "Fooler" on us, this year, an' jist when folks had b'gun t' git idees o' fussin' about in th' garden. Wi' Easter here and gone, we git th' feelin' Spring is here now, but ne'er can tell about weather in this mid-western country, one day summer an' th' next knee-deep in snow. But me thinks we wouldn't trade it f'r far away places, wi' more uncertainties 'n right here. Interruptions, when this granny was about gettin' an Easter message off t' me readers, makes this late, but th' wishes f'r a happy s p r i n g t i m e , r e m a i n t h ' same, an' better late than ne'er, so, may th' spirit that filled our hearts at th' Easter season, r'main wi' us all th' year through. 'Tis a pity, nations spawn wars wi' one another, through greed f'r power o'er people an' bounties o' th' land. Seems t' this ol' lady, havin' lived t' see four wars, involvin' our country, that no leader, how e'er high his hopes may be, can solve th' differences b'tween nations, bent on exertin' power o'er others. It does this heart good, t' know o' so many young folk seekin' leadership through those perfessin't' be guided by th' teachin' o' Jesus Christ. There'll come a time, when God'lovin' people may be influential in a bringin' peace t' this beautiful world. At Easter time, th' thought o' "Love f'r fellow-men," is upmost in th' hearts o' people, all o'er th' face o' this earth. One would think th' power o' that love could change the world. Man's ingenuity created weapons o' war, tools t' kill human bein's., Sad was th' day when th' first one was made. Th' more there are, th' greater th' mistrust among nations. We know there are fears that our America, as we know it, a land o' free people, may be destroyed, an' as long as that fear exists, we find ourselves immersed in th' battle o' th' wits. Seems there's no answer. May God guide those at th' head o' gover'ments, all o'er th' world, t' lead us to a state o' peaceful brotherhood. As we enjoy this Spring season, let that be our prayer, as it is that o' this granny, every day o' me life. Grandma Radtke Other services offered by CP&A include a tots' discussion group, children's p a r t i e s , p r e s c h o o l e r playgroups, programs which feature authorities speaking on subjects of interest to parents and a bimonthly newsletter.
