Classic Comic-Mystery The famous comic- mystery, "Arsenic and Old Lace" will open Friday, April 16, at the historic Woodstock Opera House. Following performances will be weekends, April 17 and 18; April 23, 24 and 25; April 30; and May 1. Curtain times will be at 8:15 p.m., Friday and Saturday nights and at 6 p.m. Sundays. A special matinee per formance will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 24. The sweet, elderly Brewster sisters, Martha and Abbie, will tempt the audience, as they do homeless and lonely old men, with their "special" elderberry wine. The Brewster girls' true in tentions, is left for the audience to decide. As a special treat, all members of the audience will be invited to sample the Townsquare Players' own special elderberry wine- punch at intermission. Tickets may be reserved by calling the Woodstock Opera House, 815-338-5300. Group rates are available. Skills Course For Cyclists Five separate sections of Northern Illinois univer sity's motorcycle riding skills course will be offered this summer at McHenry County college. The 20-hour Motorcycle Rider course is open to any Illinois resident 16 years of age or older, who posesses a current driving license or permit. Participants pay only a small deposit, which is refunded upon completion of the course, according to Bick Kieltyka, assistant coordinator for the NIU- based program. Kieltyka notes each course consists of 10 hours of classroom instruction, and 10 hours of hands-on riding experience. Students are taught everything from correct posture and driving strategies, to optimum braking techniques. Motorcycles, helmets, and classroom materials are all provided. Students are responsible for eye protection and proper clothing. Warning To Elderly: Don't Be Overinsured A spokesman for the private health insurance business has advised senior citizens in Illinois not to overinsure themselves when purchasing supplementary Medicare insurance. "There are a lot better things for retired people to do with their money than pay premiums that duplicate or overlap other insurance coverage," said James Longhway C:L.U. president of the McHenry County Association of Life Un derwriters, an organization of life and health insurance professionals. Longhway said persons 65 and over face an in creasingly difficult problem in financing those portions of their hospital and medical bills which are not covered by the federal Medical program. "Medicare was never meant to be an all-inclusive health insurance program," he said. "It was designed to relieve people aged 65 and over of the major part of medical costs." To fill the gaps left by what Medicare does not cover, he continued, private health insurance*•>. companies created supplementary policies. He said one good policy ought to be sufficient for most people, although there may be instances when more than one might be needed due to the complex nature of Medicare and how it works. "The danger in overin sured," Longhway said, "is that you might be doing more than just buying duplicate coverage - you might be buying policies that will not pay. In casual conversation with people, of all ages, when the subject of their pets is discussed the same words seem to be repeated - "my pet is like a member of the family; mine, is my best friend; life would be empty without my cat and-or dog". When a 'friend' is needed to share in your joy pr sorrow, they are at yotu- side. The love, devotion, companionship never ends, it's always there. That's why "pets are wonderful". All pet adoptions must be validated by the signing of a contract along with the adoption fee which includes the cost of the spay or neuter surgery from a vet of HP's choice or a deduction from the cost of the surgery if done by a vet of your choice. Wtyen adopting a pet through Helping Paws, please for your future reference, keep name, ad dress, phone number of the person from whom you adopted pet, and adoption fee, by check, payable to Helping Paws. Brick layers have com pleted laying most of the brick for the east wall and are focusing now on the south and west walls. The north wall is also being completed, the side of the addition that abuts the existing hospital at Wood stock. All major components of the three new elevators have arrived and are being in stalled. These elevators are located between the new and the present hospital, and will significantly improve the vertical transportation for patients, visitors and staff. . "We expect to open the new 30-bed unit on the third floor late this fall," Pesce said. "This will include 10 private rooms." PAGE »- PLA1NDEALER - FRIDAY.
