CBS has recognized Schneider's drawing power by casting him opposite Catherine Hicks ("Valley of the Dolls '81") in "Happy Endings." The TV film, which will be telecast next season, features Schneider John Schneider and Miss Hicks as lovers in a tempestuous romantic drama. IN THE CHIPS -- "CHiPs" headliner Erik Estrada goes before the cameras shortly for an NBC drama, "Honey Boy." He'll play a young boxer from the barrio who refuses to pay the price for success demanded by his money- hungry backers. Erik Estrada SOARING DRAMA -- CBS has started produc­ tion on "American Eagle," a TV film shot in Guaya- mas, Mexico. The action- adventure story stars Larry Hagman as an ex-combat helicopter ace and Susan Anspach as his former lover. Columbia Pictures also has a film in the can about helicopter derring-do called "Blue Thunder." HOT AND BOTHERED -- Menachem Golan and Larry Hagman Yoram Globus, the maver­ ick producers who head Cannon Films, have signed Brooke Shields as leading lady in "Sahara," a multim- illion dollar sex-and-sand epic. In the film, which begins production this summer, Miss Shields plays a young woman who is molested by marauders. Miss Shields' mother. But such was the case recently when Razzy Bailey's "She Left Love All Over Me" hit No 1 and the Oak Ridge Boys' "Bobbie Sue" hit No. 2. Both songs are published by the House Of Gold Music in Nashville * The Jim Hart/Tim DuBois song. "Love in the First Degree." a hit for Alabama, is a top five finalist for "Song of the Year" on the Academy of Country Music Awards Show, which airs Thursday, April 29 on NBC-TV. Eddie Raven will be taking breaks from studio work on his forthcoming LP for some dates in the South. The success of his "A Little Bit Crazy" single has increased his popularity on the road The new album, as yet untitled, is set for June release. Eddie has been nominated for "Most Promising Male Vocalist" by the Academy of Country Music (c) 1982 Compulog By Doug Oavts The current "Windows World Tour '82" will take the Charlie Daniels Band more than 34,000 miles, covering 75 cities. The tour is promoting the band's new album, "Windows," and single, "Still in Saigon." The tour's gross is expected to top $7.5 million. More than 1 million people attended Charlie Daniels Band concerts during the last tour. The six- member band and 26-member road crew travel in three busses Fcur tractor-trailer rigs will be used to transport the show and equipment. A one-hour radio special has been designed and produced for exclusive airing in the con­ cert markets. The special Charlie Daniels includes Daniels performing acoustic versions of "Great Big Bunches of Love," "Uneasy Rider," "Long-haired Country Boy" and "Heaven Can Be Anywhere," plus tracks from the band's albums Daniels also will reminisce about his nearly 10 years on the road. • • According to Dolly Parton's press representative, she and hubby Carl are "happier than they've ever been, and have no plans for divorce." Many gossip rag papers are having a ball with the much circulated rumor of their marital breakup. * Look for Razzy Bailey to score another hit with his latest single, "Everytime You Cross My Mind, You Break My Heart." The track is from his "Feelin' Right" LP • The Earl SCruggs/Tom T. Hall album, "The Banjo Man and the Storyteller," will be released next month, but the first single from the album, "There Ain't No Country Music on This Jukebox," was released in April.
