\ A First In Ill inois Organize Ranger Program Looking over the material for the newly chartered Lutheran Rangers-Rangerettes at Zion Lutheran church are Ed Schultz, Camp counselor for the Rangers, and his daughter, Amanda. STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD The Lutheran Rangers- Rangerettes program is being organized at Zion Lutheran church, the first in Illinois. It was organized in West Allis, Wis., in 1963 to provide organized activity and training especially for boys and girls of pre-confirmation age, and members of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. The local camp is No. 16. In a special presentation service at Zion Lutheran church on Route 120 last Sunday, the Reverend Herman Graef presented the charters to Mrs. Jean in Grandt and Ed Schultz. Registration for boys the tnird grade and girls in the second grade and members of Zion Lutheran church will take place Friday, April 30 at 7:30 p.m. For boys and girls too young for the Rangers- Rangerettes there will be a program called " the "Whirlybirds". W. Speakers Members of the McHenry Business and Professional Women's club enjoyed a very delightful "nite out" when they attended the April meeting. The Finance committee, headed by Virginia Orr, slated two interesting speakers for the club's "informative ear". Keynote speaker was Mrs. Edna Fanning, B.P.W. vice- president, who presented an enlightening "lesson in financing" for women. Ms. Fanning prepared an outline for each guest, and spoke informally with the group on matters concerning one's financial status - past, current and future. She stressed the im portance of documenting a detailed and true history of one's finances, and con cluded the lesson with some h e l p f u l i n v e s t m e n t suggestions. She feels that setting financial goals with a day-to-day living framework will insure a happier, more secure future. Lori Neuschiller of Woodstock, with the NOW organization, spoke on the most apropos and con troversial subject of ERA. Ms. Neuschiller reminded everyone that women represent 51 percent of the population; and they count if tney put their minds to it. She said women can make a difference if they get out and do something about it. Wednesdays are ERA lobbying days at the state legislature. McHenry B.P.W. members plan to attend on Wednesday, May 19, to stand in silent vigil for the ratification of ERA while the legislature is in session. Anyone wishing to attend with the club, is urged to contact the club's president, Lynne Donarski. Ms. Lil Revell, Mem bership chairman pro-tem, conducted an induction ceremony for three new members, Gloria Mack, Linda Gehlar and Pat Fortino. Club members were reminded to contact the Membership committee concerning prizes for the card party on May 6, at St. Patrick's church hall, McHenry. Guests for the evening included Harriet Pfister, Lois Carrico, Janice Wegener, Linda Smith, Thelma Richards, Helen Stevens, Lori Neuschiller, Beth Congdon, Donna Johnson, Ree Nelson and Elsie Wilcox.
