Dustin Hoffman has returned to films in Columbia Pictures forthcoming serio-comedy "Tootsie," which also stars Jessica Lange and Terri Garr. Hoffman portrays a New York actor who becomes a soap opera star. Hoffman last worked in 1979 when he received an Academy Award for "Kramer vs. Kramer." HOT STUFF -- That's what Richard Pryor is these days. His "Sunset Strip" and "Some Kind of Hero" flicks are doing extremely well at the box office. Pryor's next project, which just started production in Baton Rouge, La., is "The Toy" for Columbia Pictures. Pryor portrays a jobless journalist who is hired by a tycoon (Jackie Gleason) to amuse his son. NEXT HURRAH -- Direc tor Francis Ford Coppola, whose Zoetrope Studios is up for tale, is hoping that his collaborative effort with Warner Bros, on his next screen venture will succeed. Coppola started production on "The Outsid ers," a screenplay based on S.E. Hinton's best-sell ing novel about teen-agers in Tulsa. Okla. The cast includes Matt Dillon. Diane Lane and Leif Garrett.
