The future looks participe high seta I question the! r is not only would sgree, but Coach Dick Kloepfer Is not only an excellent coach, but s fine s gentlemen ss one would wsnt to meet The veteran coach inquired a year ago about the meet end was given no positive answer by state offidlas as to the status of the individuals that would participate. Coach Kloepfer claims that the state told him that road races were in violation ofthe cross country see son, but not during the track season. Coach Kloepfer is a rare breed at coach. He knows the rules forward and backward, and can quote the rule book from start to finish. At the recent McHenry relays, bepersonslly disquslifiedone of his relay teams, when the runner crosssd the finish line, and in disgust threw down the baton and uttered a profanity. The rule states that a performer cannot utter any profane words while competing. It took a lot of guts for s coach to disqualify a member of his own team, but that is the kind of a fellow Dick Kloepfer is, he goes by the rules. There are s lot of coaches who won't live up to his standards, and I'm sure he has some enemies in the coaching profession. A dp of the fedora to a fine gentleman and coach, who in my mind would never bend the rules to this advantage. I think there is a misunderstanding between the Tigers and the I.H.S.A. Let's hope the state office investigates the situation fully, and renders a favorable decision to all the schooft involved. Penalty to the athlete cGuld be from one day to a full semester. Complete frustration overcame Virg Spengel as she fought vainly to extricate herself from the trap on No. 13.
