Crackdown On Lake Dam Use fMAWMH Vandalism, littering and a concern for public safety has prompted en forcement of the "no trespassing" policy of the Wonder Lake Master Property Owners sssOciation, regarding the Wonder Lake dam. Craig Pfannkuche, a Master association dam committee membsr, blamed vandalism for the new crack down. Garbage has been left strewn all over the area, violators are building campfires and motorcycles have eroded the earth embankment, he said. Both the Master association and the Illinois Depsrtment of Tran sportation, Division of Water Resources, are concerned about the condition and public safety of the Wonder Lake dam. Since the association is responsible for the dam, it could be found liable if anyone was hurt and sued. "We've been getting a lot of static from the state because of trespassers," Pfsnnkuche said. Jim Gunning, head of the dam committee for the Master association, said the group has lost signs and a pair of red warning lights were vandalized recently, lite replacement cost is about 9900. "We never bothered the people (at the dam) when they didn't bother us," Gunning said. But, continued abuse and pressures to adhere to state regulations have forced the Master association to. tighten security, he added. Citizen police forces have been beefed up and will patrol the dam during week days and weekends. No one will be allowed on the dam, in cluding fishermen. "We've asked police to come down, arrest violstors and charge them with trespassing," Pfannkuche said. Legal Notice IN THE CIRCUIT COURT OF THE 19TH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT McHENRY COUNTY, .
