Party Honors MCHS Graduate A party honoring his graduation from high school was held for Bob Konecny at the home of his grand­ mother, Evelyn Konecny. Unfortunately, rain sent the gathering from the yard to the garage, where grilled brats, ham­ burgers and other treats were en­ joyed. The graduation cake carried an apporpriate motif of mortarboard and diploma, all in the MCHS colors of orange and black. In a display of strength during tomfoolery that took place during the hours that followed. Bob, a Karate one-better, bowed to friendly tor- menters who outnumbered him. Anthony Ross Meehan Baptized Anthony Ross Meehan, son of Larry and Lynn Meehan of McHenry, was baptised June 6, by Pastor Roger W. Schneider, in Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church, McHenry. Chosen as godparents for this blessed oc­ casion were Bob and Diane Wilson of Barrington, III. Following the 2:30 p.m. christening, between 40 and 50 guests were served a buffet dinner in the home of the celebrant's parents. Special guests included the infant's two grand­ mothers. Louise LaMotta and Kathy Meehan; and great-grandmother Susan Pipowski.all of McHenry. The new baby has a sister Kelly. Dance Sponsored By Lioness Club The Island Lake Area Lioness club is holding its first annual dance Saturday, June 26, starting at 7 p.m., al Port en Park, "Home of the Lions Cornfest". The theme of the dance is "Country Western" and everyone is invited to come in their country finest. Admission tickets can be purchased from any Lioness or at the door. The evening's events will include a kangaroo court, dancing and a lot of fun with food and drinks for sale. Faye Moreau, chairman of the event, says she guarantees everyone who comes to the dance a terrific time. MR. AND MRS. EDWARD STRAUEL, III MARRIED IN MCHENRY - The Church of 81. Mary of the Assumption. McHenry, was the setting for the May 22 exchange of wedding vows between the former Carol Verstege and Edward L Strauel, HI. The Reverend James Gaynor officiated at the 2:39 p.m. ceremony. The bride Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Verstege, MIS W. West avenue, McHenry. Mr. Edward L. Strauel. Jr. of Johnsburg, and the late Buany Strauel, are the parents of the bridegroom. Following the nuptials, a reception was held at the American Legion hall, McHenry, for 1SS friends and relatives. The newlyweds, both 1978 graduates of McHenry Community high school, are residing at 3SS5 W. James street, McHenry. She is employed by Black Dot in Crystal Lake, in the Customer Service department. He is a set-up man for Brake Parts in McHenry. Illinois Teen All American Illinois Teen All American pageant which will be held at the Pheasant Run resort hotel in St. Charles, III.. Aug. 14 and 15. Teenage girls between the ages of 14-18 are eligible to enter the state preliminary to the Miss Teen All American pageant. Judging is based on scholastic achievement, per­ sonality, beauty of face and figiire, poise and appearance and jukes' interviews. There is no talent com­ petition. The reigning Miss Illinois Teen All American, Vicki Zucchero, of Rolling Meadows, will crown her successor Vicki wc.3 the first runner-up to Miss Teen All American at the 1982 national pageant held in Florida last November. She explained nutritional in­ formation for expectant mothers - as well as other pre-natal care suggestions - can provide important help in the well-being of both the mother and the new child. The next session is planned at 8 p.m. on the evenings of July 12 and July 19. SINGLES DANCE St. Peter's Singles club will have a dance Friday, June 18, at 9 p.m., at Nottinghams Garden, 7021 Higgins, Chicago. All singles over 30 are in­ vited and guests are welcome. Chicken Dinner Slated June 27 St. Peter's church, Spring Grove, will hold its annual chicken dinner and Summer social Sunday, June 27, in the church hall. Serving will be from noon to 3 p.m. The public is invited to come and enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal with an assortment of homemade pies for dessert. There will also be games and prizes. Tickets may be purchased at the door. In September, the program will ex pand to three evenings, Sept. 13, 20, and 27, with added information on pre­ natal care and the new Birthing room incorporated into the free program Both prospective parents are in­ vited to participate in the program, and Mrs. Scholpp adds that virtually all fathers-to-be join their wives in this instructional program which she and other hospital and medical staff members will attend. Included in the program is a tour of the Maternity department and Nursery, as well as the newly-completed Birthing room Invite Public To St. Paul's Cookout \ Everyone is invited to attend a cookout at St. Paul's Episcopal church, 3706 W. St. Paul's avenue, McHenry, on Father's day, Sunday, June 20. The event, sponsored by St. Paul's Episcopal Extended Families, will follow the 9:30 a.m. service and proceeds wiU go to the Neediest Family program of the church.
