Accept Social • Promotion - by Myrtle Procter A favorable vote last week by the board put into action a social promotion policy for ihe Jnhnsburg Junior high school as presented by Principal Jim Van Boech. The Ad ministration, advised by the district's lawyer that social promotion is legal, recently expressed a desire that the policy be adopted. Communication to the board had indicated "statistics show that very little is gained by retaining students during their junior high school years, especially a second time". Several steps will be taken by the staff before social promotion will become fact. This will include direct communication with parents, both fay letter and requests for personal in terviews. . Social promotion in the case of a seventh grade student will mean "he will be passed to the next grade level, will be 1'AI.K3• I'l-AINDKALKR - WEI»\KM>\\ . h.
