After all, leading batter Jerry Brodin ( .762) was gone op vacation, as was third leading batter Jim Wayman (.500), plus outfielder Tom Roach was just off his crutches. The first three innings were all Fox Hole as the Tap raced to an 6-1 lead. But then something happened which does not regularly occur in the Fox Hole infield. In the fourth, an error led to four unearned runs. Again in the fifth an error brought in two of three runs scored. But in the seventh two errors brought in three runs, the last run a game winner in an incredible 12-11 Doherty victory! . In the seventh, another revised Doherty lineup, with Mike Rogers now batting in the sixth position, saw John DeCiccio, Rogers, and Randy Vauk hit consecutive singles to load the bases. Steve Mai sacrificed to bring Doherty's within one run and advance the two baserunners. Dick Doherty, who hit into a double play his last time up, hit a grounder to second which was bobbled allowing everyone to advance. An attempted pickoff of Vauk at third, however, on the same play went wild as Vauk^ scored on the second error and Doherty took third \ Steve Majors grounded out with thes, winning run holding at third. That brought up leadoff batter Jeff Med- dings with two outs. After analyzing the situation, the Fox Hole decided to pitch to Meddings and brought in another infielder to plug up the right side of the infield. But the strategy backfired as Meddings hit a Bill Meyers offering in the hole between first and second, exactly where the Tap had positioned their fifth infielder, but the ball was bobbled and the rest was history Doherty's Jim Perriwe had his second successive 4-for-4 evening. Both efforts against top teams give him 13 hits in his last 16 at bats! Perriwe also came up with two great fielding plays, one snaring Jim Mini Brewers Drop First Contest The American league Brewers Sred their first loss of the season seven straight wins in the enry junior youth league mini ^tfrision as the second place Yankees wQn an exciting game 6-3.
