After prayer, the vans started the 14- hour trip to Altmann, Tenn , population 810. Maribeth Karas shared in the driving responsibility and watching over ten exuberant youngsters. The week was spent at Camber land pines camp run by the' Tennessee Outreach program, known as "Mountain T.O.P.". In eamparing this year's program with last years, Maribeth was happy to sat an im provement in the quarters, lood and weather. The week consisted of daily work projects in the county; group meals, activities and worship. Maribeth drove her small group in a custom van which hated starting in the morning, to the work sites in the mountainous area. Different ex periences were encountered in the clearing of yards, washing windows, painting, repairing and even con structing a shed. The people worked for were mostly elderly, and by their conversation and prayers, often blessedx the youngsters as much as they were blessed. After a week of working together, it was hard to break the bonds of newly formed friendships, but the adults at least, were ready for their own beds. The drive home was highlighted by repairs on the van done fay jovial homespun Tennessee mechanics to the tune of $3 and windshield wipers that only worked when the door was slammed.
