Hie major league All Star game will also be played on this date. All atar selections from the major league will appear in Friday's edition. Parents are asked to bring a dish to paaa for the picnic. Cub Field Trip The City of McHenry Department of Parks and Recreation is now taking registration for its field trip te see the Chicago CUDS in action on Friday, Aug. 6. This trip is open to all area residents, requiring children 6 and under must be accompanied by an adult. The bus will leave McHenry City Hall at 10:30 a.m. and will return at 6 p.m. The fee for this trip includes transportation and admission. The deadline for registration is Monday, Aug. 2. McHenry Favorite Sport, the Judor pigtail leader all season, captured the lilt title by finishing with a 13-2 record, two full games ahead of runnsr-up Wally's Bike Haven. Favorite $port, managed and coached by Sharon Schramm and Bob Hlller, won its last game of the season against Wally's by a score of 9-3. Bike Haven took an early lead in the contest as Julie Erkenswick singled home Brenda Bromley. But Favorite Sport quickly knotted the score in the second as Kristy Justen belted a home run. Amy Birk and Angela Coles collected run-scoring singles In the aecond for a 3-1 Wally's lead, but from then on it was all Favorite Sport. The league champions tallied once in the third, then scored the tying .and eventual winning runs in the fourth as Shiela Roy singled home a run and Karen Keesler tripled for the game- winning hit. Favorite Sport then wrapped up its league title with five runs in the sixth. Earlier, the league champions defeated third place Candyman's Closet 5-4 in one of the best played games in junior pigtail league action this summer Kristy Justen got the win with 11 whiffs, but losing hurler Kim Amore had a fine game herself with seven strikeouts. Favorite Sport took a 1-0 lead on a Sara Wagner home run, but Can­ dyman's came back with three in the second as Carmie Schultz singled in a run and Amy Sauers homered. But Favorite Sport came up with four runs in the third for the margin of victory. Wagner had another RBI hit and Amy Stolle delivered the deciding blow, a three-run homer Candyman's last rally fell short but Kim Snyder collected the final RBI. Wally's won six of its laat Seven including a 15-7 win over Adams Brothers Radiator. After scoring two runs in each of the first two innings, Wally's put the game away with a nine-run third inning. Ginger Bellon had a big night for the winners with three straight hita in­ cluding a three-run triple in the third for the game-winner. Bellon alao played a fine game at ahortatop and ended the contest with a leaping catch of a line drive Timberlee Steward went 3-for-4, Julie Erkenswick had two hits and Erica Brunner doubled to -aid Wally's. At 82, Pitzen, the oldest member of the McHenry Sportsmen's Club won first place in the Veterana Class at the annual Club Championship and shoot and picnic on July 11. Gene Wagner became the new club champion while Larry LoSchiavo received the second place trophy. Jo LoSchiavo took top honors in the Indies division .and Wagner won the all around championahip with Dick Aisaen taking second. The coveted Pitzen Handicap trophy went to Jack Adams and in junior diviaion competition, Ted Kruzen and Chris Gersey were trophy winners. Gene Wagner Jr. and Keith Adams won trophies in the sub junior division. The McHenry Sportsmen's Club is located off of Weihgart Road. Meat shoots with practice and gamee are held on the second and fourth Sundays of each month with the public welcome. The public may alao attend practice shoots on Saturday af- ternoons. The next club meeting will be st the range on Thursday, August 5 at 8:00 p.m. with Paul V. Riegler recently reelected president in charge. Serving with him are newly elected officers: Don Miller, vice president; Hal Davis, secretary; Mike Haffner, treasurer; and Dick Aissen, trap chairman manager. Serving as trustees are Len Huhn, one year; Bill Schwank, two years; and Jack Adams, three years.
