From July 23 through August 1, the town, which is located in northern Illinois where Route 120 and Route 31 intersect, offers new events each day, that will please, beguile, and entice all ages with free activities and plenty of fun for both the par ticipant and the ob server. The annual mid summer festival is sponsored by the City of McHenry and the M c H e n r y A r e a Chamber of Commerce, and each succeeding year finds new events and plans added to the roster of highlights. Centered around a time capsule theme this year, Fiesta Days 1982 is called "Future Perfect: McHenry", and will focus on filling a time capsule with historical a r t i f a c t s a n d memorabilia, scheduled for reopening in 2082. The pageantry of packing the capsule will be the maim event on Theme Night, Friday, July 30, at the Pearl Street Park, as a multi media extravaganza bursts on the nightime scene with a star- studded lineup of nor thern Illinois talent. This dazzling evening of entertainment, like many of the twenty-five different events, is absolutely free. A main site for many <>f the events is Pearl Street Park, located one block north of Elm Street (Route 120), and two blocks east of Route 31 North. Knox Park and Peterson Park, both located near the peramaters of the town of McHenry, will also be the locations of special outdoor events, such as the adult tennis tour nament, the free roller skating party, and the boot throwing contest. Other sporting events include a football jamboree, a seven-mile river run, a bed race, big wheels racing for the very young set, and a championship track meet for area youth between the ages of 7 and 18. Teen Night's rock concert aad dancing, and the Moraine Hills Bike Hike offer fare for the young and Lovers of the arts, bargain hunters, and gourmets may rest assured they've been remodeled, too.
