These booklets have an added interest for people of McHenry for a local boy, George Kamhoiz, born and raised in McHenry, has advanced in his work for the Borden company until be is now foreman of this fine new Hamilton Park plant. The McHenry Flour MiOs had purchased a beautiful new Ford delivery truck from the Buss-Page Motor Sales, McHenry. The local institution is now prepared to make deliveries of flour, feeds, etc. in all parts of the territory. The Plsindealer invites F.E. Rogers. McHenry, and one guest to witness the presentation of "Society Girl" in the Empire theatre, McHenry. FORTY YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of August 8, 1942) • Rules governing the blackout scheduled for McHenry and vicinity on Aug. 12 from 10 p.m. to 10:90 p.m. central war time, were given this week by William F. Waugh, chairman of the civil protective division of the Illinois Council of Defense. A special meeting will be held at the.city hall and civilian defense workers and Legion members are invited to attend. With mingled feeling of regret and admiration, the residents of McHenry learned of the departure in the near future of Dr. L.B. Murphy, who has been commissioned as First Lieutenant in the army. Regret because of the loss of a popular and capable dentist and admiration for the splendid patriotic cooperation in aiding his country. Miss Frsund represents the McHenry Ptaindealer in the contest. ft, 197ft) County TEN YEARS AGO (Taken from the fifes of Aug Visitors to the McHenry Fair at Woodstock this week timely evidence of air and water pollution and not-eo-sanitary landfill conditions by stopping at the McHenry County Defenders' booth. The Defenders, a county-wide en­ vironmental group, sponsor an educational booth at the fair each year to help the public understand the hows and whys of pollution and pollution solutions. One of the main themes of the booth will be recycling, which the Defenders have been studying and practicing for over a year. The body of a 28-year-old Niles woman was recovered from the Fox river Monday afternoon by members of the McHenry county Sheriffs department. Mrs. Betty K. Halle of Niles was found near 2814 Sherwood drive, Huemann's subdivision, about a mile north of McHenry. Madeline Maselter, McHenry, has been named to Illinois 190 member team to compete in the National Special Olympics at Los Angeles, Aug. 14-18, Robert Lsmbourn, executive director for the McHenry County Association for the Retarded, announced.
