He was 44 years old, born in Johnsburg Feb. 12,1888, the son of Michael and Eva Schmitt of John­ sburg. Mr. Schaefer lived in the Johnaburg-McHenry area all his life; was a carpenter and project s u p e r i n t e n d e n t f o r Tonyan Construction Co.; past vice-president of the Johnsburg C o m m u n i t y c l u b ; member of Court 96 C.O.F., Johnsburg; Local 2087 Carpenters union. Crystal Lake; and held two U. S. patents for material handling dollies he invented. On June 17, 1961, he married the former Donna King at The Church of St. Mary of t h e A s s u m p t i o n , McHenry. In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children at home; two daughters, Linda and Karen; and four sons, Chuck, Danny, Ronny and Randy. Other survivors are three brothers, Anthony and Kenneth of McHenry; and Larry of Wonder Lake; and one sister, Mrs. Gene (Dorothy) Hughes of McHenry. A Funeral Mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, in St. Mary's church, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Peter M J us ten & Son funeral home. Kroening, 63, of Route 2, Walkerton, Ind., for­ merly of McHenry, died Sunday evening, Aug. 8, at La Porte hospital, after a brief illneas. She was born March 31, 1919, in Chicago. Mrs. Kroening Bved in McHenry about 14 years, prior to moving to Walkerton in 1888. On Oct. 7, 1980, in Chicago, she married Robert W. Kroening who survives. She was a member of St. Anthony church and president of the Altar society. Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Ann Long, Mrs. Bonnie Tracy and Mrs. Teresa Tanksley, aU of Fish Lake, Ind.; and Mrs. Arthur Schweitzer of Thornton, 111.; a son Robert Kroening, Jr. of Wonder Lake; 10 g r a n d c h i l d r e n ; a n d three brothers, Eugene Gort of Schiller Park; Raymond Gort of Algonquin; and A1 Gort of Fox Lake. He was 85 years okl, born in Oak Park, 111. Dec. 88, 1896, the son of Fred and L i z z i e ( L a n d w h e r ) Pagers. Mr. Pagers lived in the McHenry area about 17 years, having come from Oak Park. He was a retired barber, and had operated Pagers Barbershop, Oak Park many years. -- Survivors are his wife Agnes (Pellerin-Behan) Pagers; and a sister, Mrs. Lillian Bolderbuck of Elmhurst, IU. Steve Drendel, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Drendel, Huntley, was chosen king in the popular vote of 4- H'era. Vicky Schoenbeck, 18, daughter of Robert Schoenbeck, Rich­ mond, is the new 4-H queen. She's a member of the Hebron Helping Hands and the 4-H'ers 4-H clubs. Steve belongs to the Huntley Harvesters. Miss Schoenbeck attended Northern Illinois university last year and plans to continue her college education, majoring in business. Drendel will return to McHenry County college this fall. He's pursuing a career in agricultural business management and farming. Both have been involved in the 4-H Federation. Vicky's main projects included sheep, beef, foods and public speaking. Steve concentrated his project work in beef, swine and field crops.
