CD Racing 11:00 PM I Vag-4 Of learnt thot hit girtf T&eMfcves Fonz's days still happy •y Peter Maada Henry Winkler never realized what he was getting Into when he first put on his leather jacket for the role of Fonzie on ABC's "Happy Days." "I had no idea the Fonz would connect this big and that people would latch on to this character," says Winkler. "In the beginning I was working out of fear. I had ineecurities." I • The leather jacket was enshrined in the Smithsonian Institution in 1980 and Winkler is now a veteran of 211 Tuesday night shows. "Happy Days" has continued to place strongly in rat- irtgs despite ongoing cast changes. This year will be no different as the "Happy Days" crew recently started work on 22 more episodes without Scott Baio, Erin Moran and Al Moiinaro, who have moved on to their own "HO" spinoff, "Joanie Loves Chachi." Winkler says the Fonz will appear in six of their episodes and they will occasionally return to "Happy Days". Cast changes don't bother Winkler, who has already survived the 1980 departure of cloae friend Ron Howard, who left the program to become a full-time movie director Winkler says he looks forward to continuing on the show even after this year and as long as "I'm still having fun." "If I had to do it all over again," ha says, "I wouldn't have talked so much in the beginning. Now I realize that it was my being frightened. Other than that. I have no regrets. I have met my destiny." is there anything he doesn't like about the Fonz? "I hate motorcycle#." he says. "But I have found the moet creative ways to use a motorcycle without ever start ing the thing. I like four wheels surrounded by steel.". ©1
