Woman Of The Year Candidates PAGE 3 - PLAINDEALER • FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 17,1962 The McHenry Business and Professional Women's club is still accepting nominations for the 1982 Woman of the Year award. The deadline for entering a candidate is Oct. 1, and the name of the recipient of this coveted title will be revealed at the Oct. 25 meeting of the dub. A ballot form is printed with this article. They may be mailed to Betty Smith, chairman of the B.P.W. Public Relations committee, at 311 N. Green street, McHenry. Mrs. smith will also accept nominations and answer any questions at 385-0170 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., or 385-2650 evenings. The committee is striving this year to emphasize th« f*ot that th#» nominee and the need not be affiliated in any way with the McHenry Business and Professional Women's club. The only criteria necessary are that the woman must be over 25 years of age and has made a notable contribution to her community. The club, which has selected a Woman of the Year since 1974, is desirous of continuing this practice to, pay tribute to women in the area who are outstanding because of their career or service. In order to make this possible, it is necessary to receive the cooperation of the public in making nominations. Green St., McHenry LUNCHEON WITH GOVERNOR-Frank Ficek, left, commander of Liberty Post No.. 188, and chapter president, Evelyn Ficek, McHenry, are shown with GovernorThompson when they attended the governor's Veterans day luncheon. It was held recently at the governor's mansion in Springfield. In addition to his local office, Commander Ficek also holds the office of state adjutant of the Polish Legion of American Veterans. Governor Thompson hosted all state officers from various veteran organizations, plus Spanish American veterans. Upon their return, the Ficeks noted with enthusiasm, "Words can't express the thrill and Joy of having: the honor of attending this colorful celebration". Dinner Benefits Police Officers A steak dinner was held at the McHenry Moose Lodge No. 691, Saturday, Sept. 11. Proceeds of this dinner are intended to be used toward the purchase of bullet proof vests for the officers. Present to accept a check in the amount of $500 was Sheriff Hank Nulle and many of his officers.
