NORTH DRIVE McHENRY BARB ANSELL The Johnsburg cross country team finds themselves battling for a top spot in the con ference, while senior Jay Jackson has hopes of competing this year in the state cross c run try meet. Bob Texidore has been the cross country coach since 1978. Last year's team did not have opponents within the Shark conference to compete against, however, Jay Jackson did make it thru the district competition, when an injury halted his continuation during the sectionals. "This year with the new conference, we have to shoot for more goals in term x>f teams we will have to do well against," said Texidore. "The team is not as balanced as we were last year, because we lost two seniors," commented Texidore. He added there is a large gap between Jackson and sophomore Mike Lawrence, who is displaying a lot of p o t e n t i a l a l r e a d y season.. "We are hoping to add a couple basketball players to assist the team," said Texidore. The additional run ners •- could determine j u s t h o w h i g h t h e Skyhawk runners finish in the conference. The team has just nine runners and that makes it difficult to obtain meet points.
