Your English *eacher would turn >ver in her grave if she read the quote in "he new Sports Editor's column" Since I was late in getting the issue and hadn't read the column, it wsis hard to reply. Mike s column depicted aging. How could he! A sign in Bill Dumalski's travel agency reads: "Everything improves with age". Uh. huh. Like wine. What the phone caller was referring to was w here I was quoted as saying - -"The wife and me". If I said that. Mike. Ill eat your interview notes. I found out your column has some readers. Vic Miller says his father used to say, "Talk is cheap". Now Vic won ders what his father would say if he used the telephone these days with the present rates. With name calling before the Nov. v election for state offices. I am thaiA- ful that only name naming has started for our next city election. Maybe it is too early. Mary Mutschinsky wants us to be sure to phone them the next time we visit Sarasota. She says we will go to watch the White Sox in camp. Henry is a fan of that other Chicago team. WOMEN'S OUR ENTIRE STOCK or WOMEN'S APPAREL MUST GO! MORE! 3107 LAKE DRIVE, McHENRY ACROSS FROM LITTLE JOHNS & McHENRY REC. 344-1050 M-SAT 10-5:30 Wed-Noon to 5:30 Mary says we will find their name listed in the phone book. We should have no trouble finding it-- probably right next to Murphy. Joe Geneser, Ace Hardware fixer- upper in the service department, says a doctor told him his only ailment is "suffering from youth deficiency". I buttoned up my sweater and found it cockeyed at the top. Then I remember boyhood days when my mother taught me to start with the lower button. Just saw a TV program where a trainer, showing students how it is done, mounted into the saddle on the right side of the horse. That's a No-No. i Take it from one who grew up in the saddle. \ -- We can't claim perfection, but keep the following on my desk to try to keep from misjudging people. It is old, but like "The Hat Me Father Wore", it is beautiful: INDIAN PRAYER GREAT SPIRIT- • i Grant that I may not criticize my neighbor until I have walked a mile in his moccasins. My grandma used to call people, who were always talking about others, "blatherskites". Each year we sing the same old song in this column about checking our wardrobe to pick out any warm clothing for less fortunate. Some clothes hang in the clqset from year to year without being worn. Like an old friend, --we can't bear to part with them. The point is to get warm clothing to people who need help before cold weather strikes. Let's act this week, not next week or next month. -- / Who is going to be the next mayor of Volo? Tom Murphy and Nora are retiring from business at the end of this week and moving. You would have to look a long way before finding such a likeable couple Their popularity must have been deserved. VISIT OUT EAST Tom and Melanie Harazin recently returned from a 2'* week vacation visiting the Eastern United States. They took their children. Mike and Julie, to see Niagara Falls, then they stopped in Johnstown. New York, to see Melanie's uncle before heading for the ocean in New Jersey to see their grandmother. Julie celebrated her first birthday on departure day so there was a small party held a few days before for some neighbors and friends. She also said that the long car ride wasn'Mhe easiest with a one year old, 75 YEARS YOUNG Sept. 26 was the day Dina Ghilar- ducci had her seventy-fifth birthday. Her son. Dino, and his wife, Nancy, with their children, Angelo, Juanita and Pat. went to Norridge that day for a big celebration. Her family and friends made this a birthday she'll never forget and we join them in wishing her many happy returns. As they were 2,500 feet over McHenry Ron slipped an engagement ring on her finger and asked her to marry him. Even after they landed the plane Linda's head was still up in the clouds. The proposal took place in such a unique setting we can't wait to hear where the wedding will be. No date has been set yet. GOODBY NANA Last week was a very sad time for our family when our Nana, Agnes Frere, passed away on Sept. 19. After two years of failing health she is finally at peace. As we think of her tears fill our eyes but we have so many happy memories to think back on so the tears dry and a smile takes their place.
