Scouts Camp Western Style Girl Scout Troop 320 was among the groups that visited Kettle Moraine Ranch in Eagle, Wis., a few weeks ago. These girls spent the night in an authentic bunkhouse, not in tents like the others. They enjoyed an hour-long trail ride, hayride and a visit to the museum. After an hour lesson on horseback riding, the only complaint heard was that a few had saddlesores. The girls got a big kick out of the western town where they hitched their horses wherever they went. Oct 6 was the date of the troop's investiture and rededication for the girls and their families. Jenny Eisennan, Roxanne Wander, Heather. Anderson, Jenny Rourke, Marlene Jeschke and Missy Heim are the older girls in this troop who welcomed the new girls; Becky Harnish, Jenny ' Christensen, Tina Johnson, Suellen Lawniczak, Jenny Neuffer, Rebecca Brady, Jenny Shanholtzer, Davina Burns and Michele Regan. Cake and coffee were served after the ceremony for all who attended. TRAIN TRIP Those traveling Dettmers, Wayne and Mary Ann, just returned from a two-week trip to Great Falls, Mont., to visit Herb and Toni. They took the Amtrak train so they could take in all the beautiful sights. The weather was great while they were there; 70's and 80's every day. Herb is stationed at Malmstrom AFB so he and Toni are living in a lovely home off base where they can accommodate all their visiting relatives. RECEIVES DEGREE After four years of hard work, Jeff Stolpa has an associate's degree in Industrial Engineering from McHenry County college. Consider these facts: An average of six prescriptions are filled each year for every man, woman and child in the U.S. The average d o u b l e s w h e n prescription drugs given in hospitals are included. Some five billion tranquilizer capsliles are prescribed each year. Says Dr. Jere E. Goyan, Commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), "We Americans are an over- medicated society. Patients expect a prescription every time uiey visit their doctors. Often they'd be better" off without a drug, and they shouldn't insist on one." Goyan, a pharmacist, believes the over- medication problem i n c l u d e s n 0 n - prescription drugs as well. He offers this guidance: Don't expect a prescription every time you visit the doctor. There isn't a pill for every ill. Discuss with your doctor what the drug is for and what side effects to look for. Do follow the doctor's instructions, and those accompanying drags, w h e n t a k l n g medications, ' If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Use your head before you swallow. Human beings are the only animals that can blush.
