Other activities they have un dertaken include a Christmas bazaar, two musical concerts, and "Dunk a Cop" held during Fiesta days. In addition, members have assisted area children and civic organizations through fund raising and donations. Proceeds from these events have provided a $1,000 scholarship given annually to an area youth, and an annual donation of sports equipment to the city's Park and Recreation department. The money has help to sponsor a Junior Pigtail team and an area adult bowling team. In the Junior Bowling league for sixth, seventh and eighth graders, the association's contribution has made it possible for all participants to receive a le^2>ue tropy plus individual achievement trophies and patches and enjoy a banquet at the end of the season. All county and state tour naments, including travel expenses, are paid by the association. An annual donation is made to the McHenry Area Rescue squad, and the association has contributed to various area memorial and trust funds. Future plans are to contribute stationary park equipment for Knox park and to stage the third annual ( WINNERS: 11/5: TAM SCHILLER THE SEASON TO GIVE... Both the Police department and association co- sponsor an informational booth during the McHenry Trade Fair, but are otherwise independent in their ac tivities. The McHenry Police Officers association is not affiliated with any state or county organization using similar titles, and maintains con tributions for the communities in the McHenry area only. The association was created about five years ago through the Illinois Statute known as the "General Not For Profit Act, 1943". Members have reported fine sup port in the past and are hopeful that future projects will receive the same cooperation. And the sunlight dancing on a clear, blue bay; I've seen the lilies and the beautiful rose, And the glorious valleys where the poppy grows; But the loveliest sight I ever did see Was my little boy praying on bended knee.
