Father Leo Bartel will celebrate the Mass in the Johnsburg Community club hall. The regular meeting will follow and plans will be made for the annual Christmas luncheon. THensHA COMMUNITY CALENDAR Once again FISH is preparing for Thanksgiving. We usually fill 60-65 baskets and there are requests for as many as 100 this year. We can only fill as many requests as we have food, but we>are so very encouraged. Several individuals have already donated sizable checks, churches are con ducting special drives, and schools and organizations are contributing We feel someone must be watching over us - when we have a dire need, quite unexpectedly we are given the means to meet it. If you would like to contribute groceries, paper articles, soap, etc., please bring them to St. Patrick's church, to the side door on the left, and place them inside on the landing any day of the week of Nov. 14 to 20. The boxes will be packed in St. Patrick's hall Sunday, Nov. 21. We need drivers and junior high or high school boys to help load the cars. If you can help, please phone 385-0258. I wish everyone reading this could see this operation so well organized by Joan Bauer. You would be more than welcome. , ASUV.,. i Long tables have been set up, lined with boxes Each box has the name of the receiving family, listing all members. The boxes are filled in accordance with this information. Against the wall, more long tables hold great piles of food arranged according to variety. Busy volunteers fill the boxes. Shiela Graham has been shopping very carefully for bargains for the perishable items and a turkey, or turkey breast or roast is sent to each family. Bertha Stange has set up delivery routes for the drivers and handles their distribution. I can't think of a better way to enjoy Thanksgiving than to know one has had a part in bringing Thanksgiving to those who otherwise would have a very bleak day. Would you like to help? ' A.F.W. BOY SCOUT Winter Driving Before the bad weather season arrives, the National Safety council encourages persons to check their car's battery, brakes, windshield wipers, heater, defroster, and an tifreeze. Everything should be in good winter driving condition. In addition, they should check their owner's manual for winter starting techniques that they may have forgotten, overlooked or never read, the council says. Many persons carry a bag of cat litter in their trunk, the Council says. The gritty material can be used to give a car increased traction in snow or on ice. It's more easily obtainable than ashes or sand and it's con veniently packaged. PACK 162 Pack 162's October Pack night was no trick - it was all a treat.
