Among the superliner's wide range of cruise offerings is the most extravagant cruise vacation offered on the market today -- sailing in QE2's split-level penthouse suites for her 61-day Circle Pacific and Orient Odyssey. The prestigious three room apartments, costing $230,000 for the 61-day voyage leaving Los Angeles January 31,1983, are the most deluxe and most expensive accommodations on any ship in the world. Custom built and added to the superliner in 1977 for about a million dollars, the apartments each have two bedrooms including a large split level bedroom/sitting room; two bathrooms; private outdoor patios; walk-in ward robes and closet; refrigerators; bar; large amounts of dresser and storage space; stereo units; and luxurious American and European furniture. Their mood is described as "tran quil and timeless" by the designers, Dennis Lennon and Partners of London. The two suites are named the Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth Suites after the two famous Cunard transatlantic liners. They are situated on the sig nal deck, the highest level of QE2 immediately forward of the Queen Anne and Trafalgar duplex suites. The latter ac commodations are priced at $205,000 for the 61-day The Circle Pacific and Ori- .ent Odyssey leaves from Los Angeles January 31, 1983 and from San Francisco February 1. In just 61 days, QE2 will visit the most celebrated Pacific and Orient destina tions, including China. The itinerary includes such ports of call as Tahiti, Cook Island, Sydney, Bali, Singa pore, Bangkok, Yokohama and Honolulu. Shorter two, three and four week cruises of the Pacific and Orient are also available with five air fare to join QE2 in a number of exotic ports. An example of one of these segments is a 17-day cruise where passengers fly free to Hong Kong and sail back to Los Angeles calling in Quin dao (China). Kobe, Yoko hama, Honolulu and Kona. Fares begin at $3,665 includ ing free air from the passen- ger's hometown to Hong Kong. Another unique, but short er. ultra deluxe travel gift is called "Best of Britain" and is offered later in the year in conjunction with QE2's trans atlantic crossings, April through Decemoer 1983. The two-week cruise vaca tion includes First Class ac commodations to Europe on QE2; a week's stay at the recently refurbished Ritz in London, a chauffeured Roils Royce for sightseeing; and a return flight on British Air ways' Concorde. The suites and other deluxe accommodations as well as more modest ones are avail able on all QE2 voyages and, in fact, any QE2 holiday would be a dazzling gift. Weighing in at 67,107 tons, with 13 passenger decks and almost an acre of open deck space, the QE2 is virtually a floating city. The ship's newest feature is the famed Golden Door health spa. Facilities have been designed to meet the exacting standards of the original Golden Door, end they are open to all passengers free of charge. (Visitors to the Cali fornia spa pay $2,000 a week for its services.) The program, supervised by Golden Door directors, offers dance exercise, par- cours, jogging, water exer cise, swimming classes, yoga and more. Passengers can even enjoy the Golden Door's slimming but detectable nou- 1 velle cuisine in the dining rooms. Among her many other facilities, the QE2 sports four restaurants, four swimming pools, a sauna, a miniature golf course, practice golf and tennis cages, a shopping arcade, a hairdresser and bar ber, a children's playroom, six bars, a casino, a-disco, night clubs, a theater, full banking facilities, a florist, hospital, kennel, photo shop, a daily newspaper, laundry facilities and a world wide sat ellite communications system.
