Along with the change of location comes a change in corporate structure that is designed to provide area residents with improved and expanded health care services. In September of 1956 the McHenry Hospital corporation was chartered as a not-for-profit organization. The corporation membership consisted of those citizens who paid annual dues. Those members also had the option of attending the corporation annual meeting and approving by-laws. On May 13,1982, the members of the McHenry Hospital corporation voted to create an expanded corporate structure. A new parent corporation, Northern Illinois Human Services Corp., was formed and now is com­ prised of the 350 members who were formerly the McHenry Hospital corporation. The Northern Illinois Human Services Corp. approves the by-laws and appoints the boards of directors of the following three en­ tities: Northern Illinois Medical Center, the not-for profit corporation formed to operate McHenry hospital. The by­ laws of Northern Illinois Medical center now govern business conducted by McHenry hospital. McHenry hospital will adopt the new name - Northern Illinois Medical center - when the hospital relocates to the new building site at Route 31 and Bull Valley toad. McHenry Healthcare Foundation, the not-for-profit corporation formed to promote the interests and purposes of the parent, the hospital and any other not-for-profit organization that may become affiliated with the parent. Free Holiday Film Will Open Children's Christmas McHenry area youngsters will have an opportunity to enjoy a free holiday film as part of the Golden Christmas celebration in this community. The animated film fantasy, "The Secret of NIMH", is the story of a widowed mother mouse who seeks to save her family with the help of some rats. The rats have undergone special treat­ ments at the National Institute of Mental Health, and provide her with some unbelievable assistance. The movie, which is rated G and runs for 83 minutes, will be shown Saturday, Dec. 4, at the McHenry theatre, 1204 N. Green street. Show times are 10 a.m. and noon. To obtain complimentary tickets to the movie, parents need only make a purchase in a participating McHenry store on the two biggest shopping days of the year, Friday, Nov. 26, and Saturday, Nov. 27. While parents are shopping on Dec. 4 their children can enjoy this holiday special. Extended store hours for McHenry businesses begin Dec. 9. Week day hours will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays, stores will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. These ad­ ditional shopping hours will make it easier to shop locally for every item on the holiday list. Meyers Leaves Chairmanship Of Village Plan Commission The Prairie Grove Planning commission will hold its regular monthly meeting Monday, Nov. 29, in the Science room of the Prairie Grove school on Route 176 at 7:30 p.m. As of this date, the only business scheduled for this meeting will be the transfer of the chairman's duties and responsibilities from Chairman Dick Meyers to Deputy Chairman Ken McCreary. Plan Commission Chairman Dick Meyers was elected to the McHenry County board from District 2 in the Nov. 2 general election, and has said that it would be "incompatible" to attempt to complete his term as Plan commission chairman while also serving as a member of the McHenry County board. Meyers' term on the Planning commission ends in May of 1983. In a letter to Village President Jerry Chatham, Meyers has recommended that Ken McCreary be appointed permanent chiarman of the Planning commission as soon as possible. • • "Ken is a dedicated, 'conscientious, impartial and contributing member of this commission, whose expertise and leadership qualities will be of great benefit to the people of Prairie Grove", Meyers said. Meyers also recognized former Prairie Grove Village President David Masters for appointing him to the position of chairman. "I really appreciate the confidence that Dave Masters had in me, when he appointed me to chair this com­ mission. We really developed as a Planning commission during his administration", Meyers added. RONALD PERRY Ronald R. Perry, 47, of Richmond, died Monday evening, Nov. 22, at Great Lakes Naval hospital. He was born Oct. 5,1935, in Algonquin, 111., the son of Charles and Zita (Wegner) Perry. He was married to Margaret (Cele) Powers on Oct. 25, 1958, in Harvard, 111. Mr. Perry, a 1953 graduate of St. Mary's high school, Woodstock, en­ tered the navy in November, 1953 and retired as a C.W.O. 3 in April, 1974, serving in Viet Nam. He was a charter member of the Donald W. Johnson V.F.W. Post No. 2450 of Rich­ mond, „ serving as senior vice- commander; a charter member and past president of the Richmond Lions club; former member of the Rich­ mond Fire and Rescue departments; and formerly served on the Zoning Board-Village of Richmond. Surviving in addition to his wife are four daughters, Mrs. David (Linda) Dubs, Nancy Perry, Mrs. Darren (Cindy) White, and Barbara Perry, all of Richmond; a son Daniel of Rich­ mond; three granddaughters; his mother, Mrs, Zita Perry of McHenry; and two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Mary Lou) Aniballi of Dundee, 111. and Mrs. Duane (Susan) Vanderwalker of Algonquin, 111. He was preceded in death by his father in February, 1965. A Funeral Mass wilTbe conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at St. Joseph Catholic church in Richmond, with Father Thomas Neville officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph church cemetery, Richmond. One of four public workshops to discuss alternative plans for flood control and water quality enhan­ cement along the Fox river will oe held Tuesday, Nov. 30, at 7 p.m. at tne McHenry city hall. The Chicago district, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, invites the public to attend the workshop held to discuss the various plans. The public is invited to express views on the alternatives. Comments will be . considered in eventually selecting one of the plans for recommendation to Congress. Plan 1 is nonstructural in approach, consisting of floodproofing measures such as elevating homes and in- s t a l l ikng a f lood warn ing and forecasting network in the Fox river- Chain 'O Lakes area. Plan 2 calls for modifying the dams between Geneva dam and McHenry dam. Modifications would include cutting notches and-or adding gated structures and providing canoe shoots at some dams. Plan 3 combines features of non­ structural, flood forecasting, flood warning and dam modification plans. POSTPONE DAM DEDICATION For the second time, the dedication of the sluice gates at the Wonder Lake dam has been postponed. Although early results are about ^10,000 behind last year's record pace, jve remain optimistic that our goal will be reached. While declines in giving are being reported by some accounts, which are experiencing reduced profitability and lower employment levels as a result of the difficult economy, we are seeing in­ dications of significantly increased giving in other areas.
