RINGWOOD NEWS Doris Low 653-9262 Koty Christopher 385-6007 See Little Use Of New Law By Angela Burden |SHAW MEDIA NEWS SERVICE A new law which went into effect last week allowing the suspension of a driver's license for parking scof flaws appears to be primarily designed for large cities and probably wont be used much in McHenry county.- Drivers who have more than 10 unpaid parking tickets could face suspension of their driver's license under the new law. The measure was signed by Gov. James Thompson on Sept. 17, and a 60- day grace period after the signing ended Wednesday. In Chicago, reportedly there are more than one million unpaid parking tickets and the payment of these outstanding citations would bring in millions of dollars of revenue. In • McHenry county, most municipalities have just a handful of unpaid tickets which are usually taken care of with the threat of a court hearing or warrant. When a person has more than 10 unpaid parking fines, a municipality must obtain a warrant. Suspension of a license is ordered by the secretary of state after he has received notification from circuit clerk's on a form prescribed by him. McHenry County Circuit Clerk Bill Kays told Shaw Media News he has not received any of the forms from the secretary of state's office. Kays said he has not been ap- Parking fine violators in McHenry appear to cause no problem for authorities, according to Police Chief George Pasenelli. "The usual violators are local people we know. We call them and they pay up," the chief said. "People here are good about paying parking fines. We'll only go after violator's licenses if they flagrantly flaunt the law," said Pasenelli. State Troopers Out In Force Used Stamps Still Needed The children are still in need of all of your cancelled stamps for a project they have going at the Ringwood school. Anyone wishing to send stamps may do so to Lil Visconti of Ringwood, or contact either of the above numbers. With the holidays coming up we all just might have a few more cancelled stamps that we could salvage for these students' projects. STILL NO WHISTLE v Well folks, it seems that it will be up to each individual to let Mr. Martin of Morton Chemical, know exactly how each of us feels about no whistle at 8 a.m. 12 p.m., 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. So let's all get busy and send him a personal letter. We do hope that no whistle blowing is only a temprary thing. It seems that a couple of children have missed the school bus because they had become so depen dent on hearing the whistle to know when to go out for the bus. HERE AND THERE Lil and Frank Visconti and Frankie spent last weekend visiting with relatives near and far, in the small town of Gary, Ind. A good time of visiting and catching up on who's who, who belongs to who, and how many new little ones, etc. Karen Bazilewich, daughter Karen, and son Troy went trail riding out at the new facilities on Hart road at Glacier park last Sunday. Those trail riding with them were Bobby Wolf, son Phillip and daughter Laurie of McHenry. Sounds like fun. Illinois state troopers are out in force this Thanksgiving weekend, trying to make Illinois roadways safer for the Holiday traveler. A special "Emphasis Patrol" is in effect until piidnight, Sunday, Nov. 28. Troopers who usually work in the office such as administrative and speciality personnel are out and riding patrol. Prime concentration for the extra patrol officers is enforcement of the 55 speed limit, apprehension of the drunk and drinking driver and a close surveillance for equipment violations. - Hie Illinois State Police also remind motorists traveling over this Thanksgiving holiday to drive BIRTHDAYS courteously, obey all traffic laws, Birthday greetings to to Rich Miller wear seat belts, and use child and Jack Kuhrt on Nov. 29, with Billie y in the-tor restraints for child^qn ridings in ». -vJo Bounds J&ecqaung a big 7-year-oM law. a vHM&htttsehiele. • §| srit « tn. nxa «nivi©ect>c3fe | pdJVJ Tomlinsoii Will >c ' celebrate her special day Dec. 3, with e Janet Bauer Halligan doing the same on Dec. 4. Sally and Chris Delby spent the weekend with Chris's parents down southern Illinois way. There was coffee klutching at the top of the hill this past Monday morning. Friends and neighbors gathered at the home of Doris Low for coffee, goodies and visiting. John Kane and his sister, Napcy, of Marlborough, Conn, recently spent a day with the Art Christophers. They are the son and daughter of Ed and Marion Kane, former members of the Ringwood church.
