Paul Roche, poet in residence at the University of Notre Dame, will ap pear at the Woodstock Opera House Jan. 20 at 10 a.m. Roche's appearance in Woodstock will be part of the nineteenth annual Creative Living series of the Woodstock Fine Arts association. Roche's poetry and translations from the Greek and Latin classics have been critically acclaimed in both * America and England. His poems and short stories have appeared in the New Yorker, Harper's Bazaar, Saturday Review, Chicago Tribune, and London Magazine. He has been described as "one of the most honest and powerful poets now writing in English" by Time Magazine. His reading of T.S. Eliot's "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" followed by his own "Te Deum for J. Alfred Prufrock", in which all Eliot's images are reversed from negative to positive, has ap peared on CBS. Conklon of the Wonder Lake Bible church has an nounced that the congregation has «• voted to move the 6. p.m. Bible Fellowship hour up to 1:30 p.m. for the three Sundays remaining in January. In order to conserve on fuel and to enable people to arrive home before dark, the congregation will meet for a potluck lunch following the 10:50 a.m. morning worship. After sharing the noon meal together, they will gather for an afternoon service which should begin at about 1:30 p.m. and conclude at about 2:30. This is to be a regular potluck with each family attending asked to bring a dish to pass and their own table service. Everyone is asked to help with the setting up and clean up work also. The schedule of services for the remainder of January (the 16th, 23rd, and 30th) will be 9:30 a.m. Sunday school for all ages, 10:50 a.m. morning worship service, noon potluck lunch, 1:30 p.m. afternoon Bible fellowship hour. After trying this schedule for three Sundays the congregation will vote again as to whether or not they would like to continue this through the tnonth of February also. Recker, 69, of Hebron, died Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 11, at ftockford Memorial hospital, Rock- ford, 111. He was born March 20, 1913, in Chicago, the son of Charles and Johanna (Reinhardt) Recker. Mr. Recker graduated from Tilden high school, Chicago; was a shop foreman for Skil Tool 15 years, retiring in 1977; had been a staff sergeant during WW II, serving in the air corps, Pacific theatre; belonged to the McHenry VFW, McHenry American Legion, and Harvard Moose lodge. On March 20, 1965, in McHenry, he married, the former Rosalie Berry, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Karen Marie) Bryan of Aurora, 111. and Mrs. Cliff (Eileen Ann) Barr of New Lisbon, Wis.; three sons, Edwin P. Haagenson of West Chicago, Chief Petty Officer Robert D. Haagenson of Great Lakes, and Seaman James G. Haagenson of Norfolk, Va.; 13 grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. George (Mildred) Firth of Chicago. He was preceded in death by a brother Arthur. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the Ehorn-Adams funeral home, Hebron, with the Rev. Raymond Shawl officiating. In terment will be private. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials would be appreciated to the Hebron Rescue Squad.
