Math Freund, progressive business man and implement dealer of McHenry, has recently purchased the N. S. Colby farm, located on Route 20, just west of McHenry. The farm, which consists of 125 acres of land, fertile farm land, was bought from Adam Ibsch, who foreclosed a mortgage several months ago, that he held on the place. ' The final chapter in the famous special investigation of alleged liquor violations in McHenry county back in 1928 was read in the Circuit court. Twelve Ccisfes remaining on the docket as the result of the investigation were stricken from the docket at the •request of Charles W. Hadley, who acted as special prosecutor during the investigation. FORTY YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of January 14, 1943). Probably the most interesting story coming from the war front is the one concerning a McHenry boy, Sgt. Paul Pitzen. The fact that his ex­ traordinary bravery, together with that of many of his buddies, was largely responsible for the victory of the allied forces in the battle of Buna, lifts the hopes of all of us for a speedy end to the war. For we know that McHenry township alone has 200 more boys who we can expect to exhibit similar bravery if the occasion arises. A marriage license was issued to James Walsh of McHenry and Kathryn Sue Stone of Woodstock. Victor A. Miller enlisted in the Navy several weeks ago and is stationed at Glenview. TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of January 9, 1958). The New Year had about the a brightest start it could possibly .have' for Mr. and Mrs. Donald Schiavone of Lilymoor. On Jan. 2, they became the parents of their first son, who in- cidently was the first baby of 1958 born at Memorial hospital for McHenry County in Woodstock. The lad will answer to the name of Donald Dominick, Jr. As the result of 25,000 envelopes containing Christmas Seals being sent out to county residents in November, a total of $15,119 has been realized About half of those contacted have,not responded. . Administrativi Council Meets The Ringwood church ad­ ministrative council will meet at the church Wednesday night, Jan. 19, starting with a potluck supper at 6:30 p.m. It is urgent that all committee chairpersons, as well as committee members, be present for this meeting. If you cannot attend the potluck supper, please be present for the business meeting at 7 p.m. - RESCUE SQUAD CONDUCTS C.P.R. TO PLAY VOLLEYBALL The youth of the Greenwood- Ringwood parish will meet at the Greenwood school at 7 p.m. Sunday evening, Jan. 16, to play volleyball. GAMES NIGHT AT JOHNSBURG Mark your calendars now for the Games Night to be held Feb. 19 at the Johnsburg Community club. This event is sponsored by the Johnsburg P.T.O. and Little League. JOHNSBURG DISTRICT LIBRARY OFFERS PRE SCHOOL STORY HOUR Children of ages three through five years, and not yet in kindergarten, are invited to come to the Jouhnsburg District Library pre-school story hour. There will be two story hours weekly. One group meeting on Mondays, starting Jan. 24 at 10 a.m. and the second group meeting on Thursdays, starting Jan. 27 at 10 a.m. The sessions will last six weeks. Registration is necessary. You may register in person or by telephone (344-0077) during the week of Jan. 17 through the 22nd. There will be a limit of 15 children per session so register early.
