Zoning Change Asked Locally A petition has been filed for hearing before the McHenry County Zoning Board of Appeals by Fred and Lorene Dahlberg and Robert and Joyce Gile for a Conditional Use of the "A-l" Agricultural district of the McHenry county zoning ordinance to allow for the operation of a commercial recreational area. The property is located ap­ proximately one mile west of Route 31 at the corner of Harts road, where Harts road makes a 90-degree right turn, in Richmond township and consists of approximately 10 acres. Nine additional civic and business leaders from throughout McHenry county were also elected to terms on the United Way board of directors. They include Donald Doherty and Russell Moldenhauer, both of McHenry. United Way of McHenry County has been service McHenry county residents continuously since 1965. Funds raised locally in a single annual campaign, supplemented by support from the United Way-Crusade of Mercy and United Way of Suburban Chicago, enable United Way to provide up to $380,000 annually to support 20 different human service programs serving over 20,000 McHenry county residents in 1982-1983 by United Way's 14-member agencies and the American Red Cross. United Way estimates that nearly 10,000 residents of McHenry county participated in this year's successful annual campaign, contributing funds either at their job site somewhere in the Chicago Metropolitan area, or, from their home as part of United Way's residential campaign effort. United Way Names Officers United Way of McHenry County elected 11 directors and named five officers to lead the organization at its annual membership and board of directors meeting held recently. James J. Brown, Woodstock, was elected to serve as United Way president. He replaces William Q. Douglass, Cary, who was reelected as a United Way director. Brown served as general chairman of United Way's highly successful 197^-1980 annual campaign. He has been a United Way director since 1980. He has played an active role on the Allocations, Campaign and Executive committees of the United Way board. Ronald Prather, Crystal Lake, was elected United Way vice-president - annual campaign. Ron Russell, Crystal Lake, was elected vice-president - agency allocations. He will be responsible for planning distribution of over $350,000 to United Way's member agencies over the next year. Reelected as treasurer was G. Farlin Caufield, Woodstock. John O'Hagan, Crystal Lake, was reelected as secretary. Robert Bartlett, Crystal Lake, was reelected to a three-year term as a United Way director. He will also serve as Chairman of the Agency Relations committee, responsible for determining the current human service needs of county residents and for evaluating the qualifications for CLOSE DRIVER FACILITIES All Secretary of State offices and facilities will be closed for Lincoln's and Washington's birthdays, Sec. of State Jim Edgar has announced.
