United Methodist Women Set Up • I Schedule For Craft Workshops DEBRA BIANCHI AND ROBERT KENNEBECK JUNE WEDDING - Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Bianchi of Johnsburg announce the forthcoming wedding of their daughter Debra Lynn, to Robert C. Kennebeck, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard N. Kennebeck of Sunnyside. A June 11, 1983 wedding is planned. At the February general meeting of the United Methodist Women of the First United Methodist church of McHenry, Kathy Boehmer reported that craft workshops for the annual Fall bazaar will be held the fourth Tuesdays of each month at 9:30 a.m. at the church. Everyone's help will be appreciated and it is always fun working together on items for the bazaar. The first workshop was Tuesday, Feb. 22, from 9 a.m. to noon, in the Fellowship hall. The afternoon had started with a potluck luncheon at noon in the Fellowship hall, hosted by Priscilla circle members. After enjoying the delicious food, the meeting was called to order at 1:45 p.m. by President Robbi Hurckes. She welcomed the members and had the guests in troduced. Nancy Hodges had the meditations which were interesting and in spirational. A motion was made and seconded, and met with unanimous approval to order palm crosses for distribution Palm Sunday morning. The program, "I, A Child Ad vocate", presented by Katherine Green of Lake Bluff-Chicago Homes for Children, was enjoyed by all. The next general meeting will be Thursday, Mar. 17, beginning with a Communion Brunch at 10 a.m. in the Fellowship-hall, led by the Reverend Martha Lewis of the Hampshire U.M.W. church. Hostesses will be the Mission Team and guests are welcome. McHenry Lions Club Sponsors Pancake Day The McHenry Lions club will be sponsoring a Pancake day at the American Legion hall, Sunday, Mar. 6, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tickets are available from club members and can also be purchased at the door. Proceeds from this activity are used in the Lions club's many community services, including sight saving programs, improvement of Petersen park and a scholarship to McHenry County college. Due to the inflation, a suggestion was made that the monthly collection rate should be increased. However, after some discussion, it was unanimously agreed that the free will offering wpuld continue at each meeting in stead of a stated amount. .Following a tasty luncheon, the meeting was called to order at 1:45 p.m. by President Bertha Stange, who welcomed members and thanked the ladies for the fine meal. ^Vivian Bassett chose for her meditations "A Tribute to Friend ship"; The Story of the Praying Hands; a beautiful poem; and ended with a prayer. A time limit on future programs was suggested and it was unanimously agreed that programs were to be for 45 minutes or less. "Happy Birthday" was sung to all members celebrating birthdays in February. Mae Stinespring, who was in charge of the program, chose "The Flying Scotsman" for a book review. It was all about Eric Lidell, the gold medal runner who would not sacrifice his belief and run on Sunday. The story told about a most unusual young man who stuck with his conscience and still was a champion. The next potluck luncheon and meeting will be Saturday, Mar. 12, at 12:30 p.m., in the Fellowship hall of the church. Hosts and hostesses will include tiaisy and Harold Wildhagen, Mary and Herbert Rose, and Lonah and Elver Wendlandt. Margaret Andersen, Vivian and Bill Richards, Alice Holmgren, Ethel Bailey, Grace and Adolph Borchers, Helen and Dan Creamer and Gladys Block make up the Meat committee. Members of the congregation 50 years old and older, who do not belong to Friendship club, are invited and urged to come and participate in the good times enjoyed by club members.
