This is the most direct and best established concrete highway from Wisconsin and adjoining states through Madison, Ft. Atkinson, Elkorn, Lake Geneva, Richmond and McHenry to Chicago and it is only common sense to know that this route will appear on the map of the Century of Progress as the main highway from the northwest to Chicago. Income tax blanks have now arrived in McHenry and Peter M. Jus ten, tax expert, now on the job, will be kept busy for the next several weeks in this and neighboring cities ,, assisting with the tax reports. FORTY YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of February 25, 1943) With the approach of spring, our hearts may turn to thoughts of love but our minds are focused on politics. In the first ward the vacancy caused by the death of John Bolger will need to be filled; in the second ward Ed Buss' term ex pires and in the third ward the term of Fred Ferwerda is ended. Under the present system, three aldermen are elected to serve four-year terms every three years. The mayor, clerk and treasurer are not up again until 1945. TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of February 27, 1958) A McHenry Community high school senior has been awarded a certificate of merit as a result of his outstanding performance in the 1957-58 National Merit Scholarship program.
